I’ve always read Deaver but somehow missed this series. I really liked the story development and the twists. I liked learning about the backstory of Shaw and his family. I’m looking for the next installment!

Historia
Charlie Reade looks like a regular high school kid, great at baseball and football, a decent student. But he carries a heavy load. His mom was killed in a horrific accident when he was seven, and grief drove his dad to drink. Charlie learned how to take care of himself—and his dad. When Charlie is seventeen, he meets a dog named Radar and her aging master, Howard Bowditch, a recluse in a big house at the top of a big hill, with a locked shed in the backyard. Sometimes strange sounds emerge from that shed.

One of the best
Revisado: 06-14-24
I wasn’t surprised I liked this book. One of my all time favorites is The Talisman. I am surprised how much I loved this book and how sad I am it’s finished. The performance was stellar. It was fun and sweet and thoughtful and honest. I will read it again, probably more than once.
As I finished I looked at my Maximus and wished for a sun dial I could find in order to turn it backwards again and again. Thank you for this love story!

Wonderful story
Revisado: 01-23-24
I really loved this book! It took me a minute to figure out and get used to the rhythm of the endgame chats while playing the game but I found them really helpful for the overall story. It’s once again a stellar performance in this book the story was well developed the characters once againwere interesting and exciting. And the ongoing relationship with strike and Robin continues to be played out perfectly. Can’t wait for next one! Recommend highly!

Simple story not well put together
Revisado: 07-04-22
This book was fine. We chose it for our book club at work and though it started intriguingly it quickly grew boring and almost YA. It felt like the end was thrown on to the end because they forgot they didn’t wrap up that piece of the story. It was very disjointed and not well threaded. Also the main character, Brin, her level of paranoia was unsettling. She was in a car accident; how that went to everyone out to get her was off putting. Even before the first death it felt WAY over the top.
Light beach read. It was fine.

Stymied again
Revisado: 04-13-21
Once again I never guessed the guilty party until revealed.
I loved this book. The weaving of the story, the development of the characters are spot on and the investment of your time is so worth it!
If this is your first Strike novel- stop- start from book 1 so you’ll appreciate the growth of each character even more.
More Barclay and Poleworth please!!
Well done again. Can’t wait for the next one!!

Historia
After an overhaul of leadership at the FBI's New York field office, A. X. L. Pendergast is abruptly forced to accept an unthinkable condition of continued employment: the famously rogue agent must now work with a partner. Pendergast and his new teammate, junior agent Coldmoon, are assigned to Miami Beach, where a rash of killings by a bloodthirsty psychopath are distinguished by a confounding M.O.: cutting out the hearts of his victims and leaving them - along with cryptic handwritten letters - at local gravestones, unconnected save in one bizarre way.

This was another good story and it was nice to visit with Pendergast again. I missed his NY friends but really liked ColdMoon and hope to hear more of him.
The story was fine. Not my favorite but after 17 books that’s not a negative!
A good book to read in commutes.

Historia
In the middle of the night, in a house on a quiet street in suburban Minneapolis, intruders silently murder Luke Ellis' parents and load him into a black SUV. The operation takes less than two minutes. Luke will wake up at The Institute, in a room that looks just like his own, except there's no window. And outside his door are other doors, behind which are other kids with special talents - telekinesis and telepathy - who got to this place the same way Luke did: Kalisha, Nick, George, Iris, and 10-year-old Avery Dixon.

Historia
Alicia Berenson’s life is seemingly perfect. A famous painter married to an in-demand fashion photographer, she lives in a grand house with big windows overlooking a park in one of London’s most desirable areas. One evening, her husband, Gabriel, returns home late from a fashion shoot, and Alicia shoots him five times in the face and then never speaks another word. Alicia’s refusal to talk, or give any kind of explanation, turns a domestic tragedy into something far grander, a mystery that captures the public imagination and casts Alicia into notoriety.

Fun read
Revisado: 08-11-19
I didn’t know what to expect with this book. I had only read the briefest of description and I’m so happy.
My only criticism was more Louise Breadly she was perfect for Alicia’s voice and there’s a place she could have been used more but I understand now why not.
You won’t be disappointed with the choice of this book.
