Historia
Bennett Fox walked into my life on one hell of a crappy Monday morning. I was late for the first day at my new job - a job I’d now have to compete for, even though I’d already worked eight years to earn it, because of an unexpected merger. While I lugged my belongings up to my new office, a meter maid wrote me a parking summons. She’d ticketed a long line of cars - except for the Audi parked in front of me, which happened to be the same make and model as mine. Annoyed, I decided to regift my ticket to the car that had evaded a fine.

great listen
Revisado: 05-17-25
I've listened to quite a few books narrated by these two narrators, and I'm a fan. I love Sebastian York's deep voice.
I'm also a fan of Vi Keeland. She crafts enjoyable stories and characters that are real. Please note that I only give 5 stars to the most exceptional books and this one is definitely worth the read.

Historia
Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general—also known as her tough-as-talons mother—has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders. But when you’re smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away...because dragons don’t bond to “fragile” humans. They incinerate them.

Amazing World Building
Revisado: 02-14-25
This is a re-read, or listen, in this case, before I read Onyx Storm. I'm still impressed with the characters' development and the story. I am worried that too much time will elapse before the 4th book is released. I don't want to re- read three books before I read the 4th.

Historia
Nesta Archeron has always been prickly-proud, swift to anger, and slow to forgive. And ever since being forced into the Cauldron and becoming High Fae against her will, she's struggled to find a place for herself within the strange, deadly world she inhabits. Against the sweeping backdrop of a world seared by war and plagued with uncertainty, Nesta and Cassian battle monsters from within and without as they search for acceptance - and healing - in each other's arms.

Awesome Finish
Revisado: 02-08-25
Although the last two books in this series were very long and were kind of slow in the middle, the end makes it all worthwhile. The world building was amazing and I'm in awe of the author's imagination. I only wish we had gotten to see Elaine's character develop during the series, and for her to accept Lucian as her mate. I would also have liked to see Tamlin get his act together and live up to his potential, and for Azriel and Mor to get together. This series is the ultimate triumph of good versus evil, and I'm so glad I listened to the whole thing. (I apologize for any misspelled names, but since I listened to the audio version, I didn't see the names in print)

Historia
Living in a year around Christmas town has its drawbacks. The caroling, the decorations, the insanely cheery spirit, it never disappears. It's why I like to hibernate away in my cave - I mean housekeeping a healthy distance from the holly jolly spirits. And all was going according to plan until my nemesis, Storee Taylor, moved in next door to care for her Aunt Cindy. Without blinking, she turned my simple world into a real nightmare-before-Christmas, especially when she decided to enter the town Christmas Kringle contest - which she was determined to win.

Cute Christmas Story
Revisado: 12-16-24
I disliked the narration of this book. It would have been much better with just two narrators. The narration of some of the characters was just overly dramatic and made the story seem silly, especially at first. I'm glad I stuck with it and finished it, though. There was a twist that I didn't expect close to the end that added some drama to the story. I liked the FMC and the MMC a lot and how much they needed each other. I think I would have liked reading it as opposed to listening in this case.

Amazing scene painting with words
Revisado: 12-02-24
This is another stellar work by William Kent Krueger. His writing style is very evocative and his characters very real and believable. I'm quite fond of Cork O'Connor and his family, and liked the way the author subtly slipped into Cork's relationship with Rainy, but I'm still angry about Jo. I'm looking forward to Cork's next adventure.

Another Fine Tale From Margaret Mallory
Revisado: 11-22-24
I have read several of Margaret Mallory's books and have enjoyed them all. She has a talent (I'm sure from diligent research) for painting a picture of medieval Scotland with words. This is a gripping story that held my attention throughout. The characters are well fleshed out and real. There is fighting with some gruesome details, but it is not overdone. There is also some sex without being explicit. I highly recommend this book if you are a fan of historical Scottish books, and I am looking forward to the next book in the series.

Historia
During a houseboat vacation on the remote Lake of the Woods, a violent gale sweeps through unexpectedly, stranding Cork and his daughter, Jenny, on a devastated island where the wind has ushered in a force far darker and more deadly than any storm. Amid the wreckage, Cork and Jenny discover the body of a teenage girl. She wasn't killed by the storm, however; she'd been bound and tortured before she died. Nearby, underneath a tangle of branches, they also find a baby boy, hungry and dehydrated, but still very much alive.

Another Awesome Story in the Cork O'Connor Series
Revisado: 11-16-24
This is the 12th book in the series that I have listened to. William Kent Krueger's writing style is amazing. He paints a very beautiful and evocotive picture with his words. He has obviously done a lot of research, and is well acquainted with Northern Minnesota. The characters are well developed and believable. There is always a lot going on in the stories that keeps me gripped until the end. Cork O'Connor has been through a lot, including losing his wife, Jo, (I'm still upset with the author about that) and, given the number of books in the series, he's not done.
it's refreshing to read books without grammatical and sentence structure issues, which are distracting for me and are so prevalent these days.
Now to the narrator; David Chandler is amazing. He does such a good job differentiating the different character's voices and injecting the right amount of emotion into the story.
In conclusion, I highly recommend this series to one and all.

Historia
Mabel "Maybe" Willis died a virgin at the very young age of 24. She leaves behind her parents, Betty and Bruce, her brother, Evan, a laptop filled with one too many Jason Momoa memes, and a Kindle library with more books than one human being could ever finish in a lifetime. Cause of death: a text message. Okay. So, I didn't die. But I may as well have. One minute, I'm a woman trying to find her way in the world, and the next, I'm the sender of six of the most embarrassing text messages that have ever been sent in the history of time - or the cell phone. Whatever.

DNF - couldn't stand either narrator
Revisado: 09-29-24
The plot was okay, but the narrators ruined it for me and I DNF. the female narrator sounded like she was 14, and the make narrator sounded like he was reading the story and was bored to death. I may try to read the digital version... I'm not sure. I have read several books by Max Monroe that I enjoyed, but the language in the last two was unnecessarily foul. I don't understand why authors feel that is necessary.

Delightful Story
Revisado: 12-12-23
This is another delightful and charming story by Anne Gracie, but I cannot stand this narrator. She puts inflections on various words in a sentence that should not be emphasized and it's very distracting. I got somewhat used to it after a while, but I didn't like it. She did do a good job with Mac's Scottish brogue, though.
