Historia
In the 1990s, heavy metal band Durt Wurk was poised for breakout success - but then lead singer Terry Hunt embarked on a solo career and rocketed to stardom as Koffin, leaving his fellow bandmates to rot in obscurity. Two decades later, former guitarist Kris Pulaski works as the night manager of a Best Western - she's tired, broke, and unhappy. Everything changes when a shocking act of violence turns her life upside down, and she begins to suspect that Terry sabotaged more than just the band.

One of my ALL-TIME Faves!!!
Revisado: 04-24-24
The performance and characters by Grady Hendrix come to life with Carol Monda’s voice. I found this on a free audiobook hunt and I’m SOOOOO sad it won’t be included anymore. I’m going to actually buy it.
Hendrix books are like amazing; fully realized, and sometimes gory and/or frightening friends, and YOU MISS THEM when you finish the book. It’s THAT KIND OF STORY. You will not end it disappointed. You’ll never end ANY Hendrix book feeling dissatisfied. Carol Monda is a narrator who brings every single word, person, and place to sinister life.
This is your sign: if you like thrillers w a bit of horror, a little gore, but a audiobook you’ll devour like pizza? This is for you.

Historia
Imagine a 1980s world of sumptuous hotel rooms, restaurants, New York City penthouses, and the powerful men who move easily between these pinnacles of luxury. They are music producers, rock stars, writers, and restaurateurs. They are household names like Billy Joel, Art Garfunkel, Eric Clapton, and Sting. And yet, each man has an entire aspect to his life that he doesn’t talk about publicly—his depression, his rocky marriage, his feelings of shame and failure, his private loss of faith. And now: The phone rings. Imagine the woman who has each of these men at her beck and call.

A Lot Like Being a Fly on 2 Walls at the Same Time
Revisado: 03-11-23
Fiction rooted in fact, a smart, flirty woman named Miranda- who SOUNDS beautiful- even though no one's seen her before, gets some of Hollywood's elite men to fall in love with in the 60s/70s. It's almost a study in how to flirt without being sexual, and by slightly tailoring her personality to each man. Rachel Brosnahan has a voice that I fell in love with instantly. Even when you realize what's going on behind the calls, one can not stop being on her side.
This serves as an underlying issue: everyone is a bit lonely sometimes. Everyone is looking for a connection in the world. And once someone seemingly finds this long-missing connection, they don't want to lose it. No matter how bitter or hurt someone is, they will still yearn for the connection they once held; and when scorned, they won't try to *save* themselves, but they'll want to take the connection *from others*.
I couldn't stop listening and the voice actors are exceptional.

Aspiring writer Jules Moretti and iconic fashion editor Vivian Carlisle have been through the wringer. As Vivian's personal assistant, Jules was there for her ice queen boss's whims, commands, and the shocking discovery of her pregnancy. Just as shocking was Jules's realization that she was falling hard for Vivian . . . and that the feeling was mutual.

Coming straight from Truth & Measure, I could not have asked for a better sequel. It's everything...and more. Do yourself a favor and get both books at the same time. Jules and Vivian feel like family members now. I'm sad the book is finished. BUT it will get listened to many times over. I'm so in love with the story. I fear I may never find another like it....

When the unthinkable happens, Vivian's regimented world is turned upside-down. Her life is about power, success, and dominance—not a baby!

When your stomach drops & the story feels too real
Revisado: 02-01-23
First off, this is one of the easiest, gripping, and most entertaining books I've ever listened to. The entire thing just breezed by as if it was happening in real time. It builds, and builds, and builds- and your mind and body go with it. Like a rollercoaster building and preparing you for descent. But instead of descent, it is something else, entirely.
The story is largely played out in interviews by people who have painstakingly developed the park/created enormous as well as minute details /visited it with their families, etc. All written, narrated and acted in such truly and vividly amazing detail, that you can picture everything happening in THAT second. Real time.
Emotion and character ranges comes through the words that the narrators suck you into every moment with such immense detail.
It starts off getting you used to the people, places, and things- intimately. Like you knew them or they could be family. By the time the storm hits, you are right there with it. The words and voices of those "being interviewed" have brought your senses along with them like a wave building....a *storm building* (if you will).
I can't believe this book comes with the Audible membership. Grab it fast! It's well written, read, produced....I cannot speak more highly of the author and the narrators! (and just to add to this review: I am extremely picky. like a 7 year old who will only consume dino-nuggets. This audiobook is THEE ultimate dino-nugget!*)
*just not for children. obviously from the sample. lol

Historia
Erika Jayne didn't make it this far by holding back. Now, in her first-ever memoir, the fan favorite star of Bravo's The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills bares her heart, mind, and soul. In Pretty Mess, Erika spills on every aspect of her life: from her rise to fame as a daring and fiery pop/dance performer and singer; to her decision to accept a role on reality television; to the ups and downs of family life (including her marriage to famed lawyer Tom Girardi, 33 years her senior). There's much more to Erika Jayne than fans see on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

If You Love Erika, You'll LOVE this.
Revisado: 03-15-22
The audiobook read by Erika was one of my top favorites♡ I really enjoy her voice (and that tiny hint of southern drawl) and her personality. Her book is funny, smart, smartassy, & *relatable*. It's a look into her private life.
If you're from NYC it's a bonus to be able to picture where she started out.
If you adore Erika- the audiobook is a MUST.
My ONLY wish was for more pictures in the hardcover.

Funny, exciting, and so real...
Revisado: 08-03-19
Ladies and Gentlemen, boys and girls alike:
If you chose this bc it has "musical theater" in the title, you HAVE BEEN to this place, this story, in your life, the characters are friends and you fall in love with all of them (or know them in your theater class. or.. you ARE them.
I feel like I've been with them for the length of the book many times. I also have a sneaking suspicion that you will also listen again and again, over and over.
Funny, light hearted, and whole hearted and you root for Edward every moment.
Great for the car, before bed, just keep a copy on your phone, it goes everywhere. Works doubly well as a present. 💗 I have had this story for many years and I try to share it with whoever will listen. PLAY PEOPLE, HERE IS YOUR STORY; read(performed, really) the way you would hear it in your own head, I'm pretty sure.
p.s- I think the piano bar they go to in the city is akin to The Duplex.
