Historia
Anna lives with foster parents, a misfit with no friends, always on the outside of things. Then she is sent to Norfolk to stay with old Mr. and Mrs. Pegg, where she runs wild on the sand dunes and around the water. There is a house, the Marsh House, which she feels she recognizes - and she soon meets a strange little girl called Marnie, who becomes Anna's first ever friend. Then one day, Marnie vanishes. A new family, the Lindsays, move into the Marsh House.

Was NOT disappointed, MUST READ
Revisado: 01-04-23
I had come across this book a while back and was really surprised at the high rating. It took me a while to finally get around to listening and I’m kicking myself for not reading it sooner.
To be honest, the narration wasn’t my favorite because of the high pitched voices of the young girls, but I got used to it a few chapters in.
I really want to find a hard copy to keep in my library because I think this may be a new favorite. This story really hit my heart. Also I enjoyed it so much that I went to google the author to see other books and found they made this into a Studio Ghibli movie! Of course, I had to watch and although I still had that emotional lump in my throat the book pulled on my heartstrings more. I’m in love with this book.

Historia
For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.

Mixed Feelings
Revisado: 06-27-22
I’m surprised there are so many bad reviews, I hadn’t seen them before using my credit. It was a book I always had my eye on but never got until now. I also hadn’t realized they were making a movie until I finished it. All that to say, I wouldn’t say it’s terrible but not great either.
The swamp descriptions are beautiful, I feel like I could be watching National Geographic. But the plot is lacking, and has plenty of holes. Yeah, the book is a bit unrealistic but it’s fiction. Don’t let the hype over excite you , it’s not the best novel in the world and I’m struggling to picture how they can make this into a movie because it can easily be a head-nodder.
Narration was iffy. It took me a while to get used to the slow drawl of the characters and found myself laughing at the accent attempts. Especially every time a character would say “Thank you, Kya.” Hahaha
Anyways, long story short (too late lol) the story is slow, filled with paragraphs that contribute nothing to the plot, the narration awkward, needs more character development, but the descriptions are beautiful. I would read to say I did, and not return back to it.
P.S Plot twist is predictable and the delivery was lacking. I love Tate’s character though

I loved this story and finished it in a day & a 1/2. I couldn’t stop listening. The drama, characters, and voices were spot on! The kids cracked me up. Loved it, can’t wait to read more from you!
