Historia
Agent Isaac Steele has problems. He spends all his splibs on drink and drugs. He has some deep-seated and very much unresolved issues with his parents. And his robotic partner at Greatest Britain’s Department of Clarification, Dr Timothy Stephens, is ruled more by his heart than his hard drive. But all these issues take a back seat when Isaac stumbles upon a case involving the most sensitive information in the cosmos - a Never File, inaccessible to all except those with the highest clearance. He is expressly forbidden to involve himself. So naturally he does.

Great world building, excellent narrator, fun read
Revisado: 04-19-25
Rigby is able to create fun characters in a vastly different world, and twist them all into a creative plot that keeps you reading on. Usually I hate it when an author reads their own work, but very rarely one of them pulls it off brilliantly and Rigby is one of those rare talents. Currently there are 2 books in this series, and I really hope this author/narrator writes more!!

Historia
For some it’s an opportunity. For others it’s a moment to question their faith: In God, in science, in everything. Still others try to keep the world running in the face of absurdity and uncertainty. And then there are the billions looking to the sky and wondering how a thing that was always just there is now... something absolutely impossible.

More of a thought experiment than a plot
Revisado: 04-03-25
Scalzi’s writing is great, and Wheaton’s narration is as usual top notch, but the plot, such as it is, is lame. The whole book is more of a thought experiment with such a shifting from one set of characters to the next, that I didn’t really care about practically any of them. I also would like to not hear the word “cheese” again for at least a year.

The first book was better...
Revisado: 04-19-23
Some annoying plot holes and way too much page filling juvenile self reflection by the heroine. The plot overall was ok, I did listen to the end, though mostly because I love the narrator Bahni Turpin.

Really glad when this one ended
Revisado: 04-03-23
Narrator would probably be fine for some other book, but she was way too perky for this one. The book was ok till action scenes started, then it kind of gets lost in a whirlwind of wtf just happened... As I neared the end, the eyerolls increased dramatically. In the old days before audio, this would have been a book I threw across the room.

Monotone voices for the robots ruin it
Revisado: 04-16-22
The narrator has a great voice, but unfortunately his robot voices are monotone and then have a vocal drop at the end of each sentence. It quickly gets extremely irritating!

In her first novel since 2002, Nebula and Hugo award-winning author Connie Willis returns with a stunning, enormously entertaining novel of time travel, war, and the deeds - great and small - of ordinary people who shape history. In the hands of this acclaimed storyteller, the past and future collideand the result is at once intriguing, elusive, and frightening.

Tedious. All the characters have the same problem
Revisado: 04-10-22
All the characters are basically the same character. No one is particularly different or distinct in any way. I'm at chapter 40 and there still is no plot, every character has the same thoughts, same reactions, and same problem. Dull, dull dull. I turned the speed up to 1.5, but still can't make it thru to the end.

Could have been great
Revisado: 04-02-22
Fortunately I read the 2nd book in this series first as it was really good and much more fun, otherwise I'd have never gone past this one which was neither... It has a great start, but then falls over sideways and becomes tedious and repetitive. Certain characters were useless, tiresome, and became annoying; I found I really hoped they would die, and some actually did (hooray!) Too bad there weren't a couple more editorial passes through this one before it went to press.

Too predictable and contrived.
Revisado: 07-24-21
The mother is so stupid about how to deal with her psychopath kid that it makes me want to strangle her myself. Boring read, contrived situations, predictable ending. I sped up the playback, then finally just skipped to the end which was exactly what I thought it would be. The narrator is excellent, but her talent is wasted on this book.

Historia
In this candid and emotional memoir, Stephanie Winston Wolkoff takes you into Trump Tower and the White House to tell the funny, thrilling, and heartbreaking story of her intimate friendship with one of the most famous women in the world, a woman few people truly understand. How did Melania react to the Access Hollywood tape and her husband’s affair with Stormy Daniels? Does she get along well with Ivanka? Why did she wear that jacket with "I really don’t care, do u?" printed on the back? Is Melania happy being First Lady? Wolkoff has some ideas....

This is a story of missing the red flags
Revisado: 09-15-20
Finding out you're the victim of narcissistic abuse is devastating, and part of the problem is that no one believes you when you explain what happened. I don't envy Stephanie her experience learning these lessons with a malignant narcissist and his family who are not only all in major positions of power, but also well practiced at manipulation and coverup. I think (and hope) that in the time to come Stephanie will begin to realize that there are a lot of things she is still taking for truth that are actually more lies. For example the almond allergy she hears about, and the excuse given to her for Melania's change of expression at the inauguration.
