Where did they find the narrator?

I enjoy listening to Carolyn Brown books, but this narrator. Oy! The reading is choppy and amateurish and her voice does not sound as though she has had any professional training.
I can put up with Brown's formulaic plots, because I find the stories relaxing, but surely there is a professional somewhere out there who could do a better job on the performance. Perhaps Hatfield is someone's daughter? Or granddaughter? Or niece?

It would have been nice to let the reader know about the non-ending before I wasted hours on a road trip listening to mediocre writing, and such a predictable plot line. I will not waste my time or money on Maggie Miller again.

This might have been a decent listen, with a professional actor. On second thought, probably not. The story, which is already somewhat weak and ridden with cliches, is rendered intolerable by the performance, which sounds like a high school English class recital.
I won't be able to finish this one.

I gave this novel a fair trial but it is so horribly written that I had to turn it off. What I found particularly irritating were the author's repeated digressions into backstories every time something was happening. She sets you up for a plot development and then goes on and ON about something else. The plot, at least the first hour or so of listening, is predictable and I hate being overtly manipulated this way.

The performance by “Kitty Hendrix” of this sailing story is so wooden, so horrendous, it really sounds like a robot is reading. Yikes!
The story itself is just okay, and rife with errors- although that could be the “narrator bot” taking matters into its own “hands.”

The narration of this book is so painfully bad that it was a complete distraction from the content and I had to stop listening. What were they thinking, asking an American to mimic Italian accents? If Damron had just read the book in his own voice, it would have been okay, but this was truly awful.

This was a decent listen in the car, but there were a couple of things that annoyed me, as a woman who also rides. First of all, we want to know what bike she ended up riding on her trip. Did she not go into that detail because of brand or copyright issues? And here's a news flash: some of us ride sport bikes, not Harleys. There's a lot of Harley in this book.
I also found her frequent digressions into self-help and awareness - the corporate stuff - detracted from the story of her challenges in acquiring a new skill.

I too remember how scary it was to get on and ride the first time, and I could definitely identify with dropping the bike!
This book left me wondering whether she is still riding and on WHAT.

As someone who spends a lot of time in the car for work, I really appreciate an entertaining, unpretentious story and Holy Ghost is one. Thank you, John Sanford, for making my constant driving a little easier to bear. And your characters are still quirky and believable. Conger's performance is excellent, as always.

This book should have been an intriguing look at the John Wayne Gacy murders. Instead, it's a pedantic recounting, replete with details we don't need to know. Example: one of the police officers tailing Gacy spills four large coffees - with double cream and sugar - on his pants during a car chase. And there are frequent meaningless conversations between police officers or between the officers and Gacy, which are, as you only find out once you have suffered through them, irrelevant to the story.
As the book plodded along, I felt my mind wandering and often, I simply turned the audio off because it was so unrelentingly dull.
The narration is also terrible, with poor inflection and a monotonous delivery. I did not punish myself by listening all the way to the end.

I hope that Ms McDaniel has a day job, because she is not, by any stretch of the imagination, a writer. The plot, (I only endured it for about half an hour ) is tedious and shallow, and there are laughable mistakes such as the use of "gastronomic" when she meant "gastric."
The narration is as tortured as the prose.
I could kick myself for paying money for this amateurish drivel.
