Historia
Why were no bankers put in prison after the financial crisis of 2008? Why do CEOs seem to commit wrongdoing with impunity? The problem goes beyond banks deemed "too big to fail" to almost every large corporation in America - to pharmaceutical companies and auto manufacturers and beyond. The Chickenshit Club - an inside reference to prosecutors too scared of failure and too daunted by legal impediments to do their jobs - explains why.

A Tribute to Southern District's struggle!
Revisado: 08-16-20
I just finished this book, it was excellent, a little long and tedious from time to time, but do not recommend it until after the election and on the backside of the pandemic. The reason is simple, we have enough to be pissrd off about without piling this on right now.

Highly Recommend Reading, BUT . . .
Revisado: 06-25-20
I finished this book a few weeks ago but have waited to do a review because I was not sure how I felt. You have to remember, it is a memoir and because it is read by Madeleine it comes off as a little bit too "I, I, ME, Me, me". That said she is a very intelligent well, motivated, successful, woman and there is no denying that.
Lots of interesting insightsand background to issues.

Historia
While the North prevailed in the Civil War, ending slavery and giving the country a "new birth of freedom," Heather Cox Richardson argues in this provocative work that democracy's blood-soaked victory was ephemeral. The system that had sustained the defeated South moved westward and there established a foothold. It was a natural fit. Settlers from the East had for decades been pushing into the West, where the seizure of Mexican lands at the end of the Mexican-American War and treatment of Native Americans cemented racial hierarchies....

Connecting the Dots from our history to today.
Revisado: 05-31-20
I am sure here are times when "You know something is happening but you don't know what it is". Well thank you Bob Dylan and thank you Heather Cox Richardson for presenting the history of American and showing us what was and is still happening behind the curtain. I wish the book was uplifting and excited for the future. Typically an optimist it is difficult to see how we can find our way through the muddle to realize the ideal that should be for America.

Historia
In Everything Trump Touches Dies, political campaign strategist and commentator Rick Wilson brings his darkly funny humor and biting analysis to the absurdity of American politics in the age of Trump. Wilson mercilessly exposes the damage Trump has done to the country, to the Republican Party he served for decades, and to the conservative movement that has abandoned its principles for the worst president in American history. No left-winger, Wilson is a lifelong conservative who delivers his withering critique of Trump from the right.

We have allowed the Grand Old Party to be hyjacked by a guy who does not have the ability or share the values to guide us into the future. This work is a kick of that reality and call to rise up and stand for America.

Historia
In this timely and important audiobook, one of the most trusted and admired writers on the world of faith examines the meaning of Scripture. The sacred texts have been co-opted by fundamentalists, who insist that they must be taken literally, and by others who interpret Scripture to bolster their own prejudices. These texts are seen to prescribe ethical norms and codes of behavior that are divinely ordained: They are believed to contain eternal truths. But as Karen Armstrong shows, such a narrow, peculiar reading of Scripture is a relatively recent, modern phenomenon.

I am not a religious scolar or student of the worlds faiths, but am a seiker of meaning and truth. This book does not answer those questions, but provides context for inspiration throughout the world from the very begining of oral traditions until today. Connects a lot of dots. Took lots of notes and bookmarks that I will look fot as this wealth of information digests.

Most books about the history of humanity pursue either a historical or a biological approach, but Dr. Yuval Noah Harari breaks the mold with this highly original book. From examining the role evolving humans have played in the global ecosystem to charting the rise of empires, Sapiens integrates history and science to reconsider accepted narratives, connect past developments with contemporary concerns, and examine specific events within the context of larger ideas.

There were lots of ideas, maybe theories about early sapiens and developement that I foynd very interesting. I may actually come back and listen again.

Have a pad handy, there are ideas and deials, names of others that you may want to note or reference. This book is more than where we are and how we got here . . and invites you to look ahead to where we are going!

Now, she continues this generation-defining conversation in a brand-new format, interviewing millennials around the country about their own deeply personal experiences with burnout, and the culture that creates it.
