Historia
Imagine if you made one little mistake when you were young and were punished for it for the rest of your life. Well, that’s what happened to Lydia (yes, that Lydia, the youngest Bennet sister from Pride and Prejudice), and she’s here to set the record straight. Hold on to your teacups and get ready for sophisticated (and a little bit naughty) hot takes and witty banter that’ll make you laugh—and think. We meet Lydia just as she is denounced by her family, exiled miles from home, and married to the rogue George Wickham, who seems to love all women...except his own wife.

The @#$& music!,,
Revisado: 12-07-23
The story sounded good, and I enjoyed listening to it. But the pop music playing in the background was a total distraction so much so that I didn’t get past the first chapter, took the focus off of the story, and was very disruptive.

Multiple narrators are a distraction
Revisado: 12-07-23
The story held my interest, but at times it was hard to determine which characters were speaking because of so many narrators. I think it would’ve been better with just one.

Or at least nothing that a couple of Xanax and a tumbler of vodka couldn't handle. The plan had been working, until the murder of a local bail bondsman Shelly Hansen. Enter: hotshot prosecutor Erika Lorman, she of the stellar record and unfailing touch with juries, a veritable legend in her own right.

Not one of my favorite Marcia Clark books
Revisado: 12-24-22
I really enjoyed Marsha Clark’s books, but this one didn’t hold my interest as much as the others. It seem kind of scattered and then just abruptly ended. I continue to be a fan, and hope the next book will be better.

Historia
At the end of the Second World War, Cyril Conroy combines luck and a single canny investment to begin an enormous real estate empire, propelling his family from poverty to enormous wealth. His first order of business is to buy the Dutch House, a lavish estate in the suburbs outside of Philadelphia. Meant as a surprise for his wife, the house sets in motion the undoing of everyone he loves. The story is told by Cyril’s son Danny, as he and his older sister, the brilliantly acerbic and self-assured Maeve, are exiled from the house where they grew up by their stepmother.

Excellent listen!
Revisado: 12-29-19
The book was great and Tom Hanks as the narrator was outstanding. As different characters spoke, his changes in voice and cadence were ever so subtle. But I had no problem knowing who was speaking. His narration was relaxing and perfect for this book. The characters were well developed and the “mystery“ surrounding the story was intriguing. I look forward to reading more books by this author.

Historia
Seattle event planner Allison Lane is an expert at delivering the perfect wedding - even if she might not exactly believe in the whole"'til death do us part" thing. When her father decides to tie the knot with a woman he barely knows, Allison heads to Sweet, Texas, to make sure his new honey is the real deal. What she didn't expect to find at the local honky-tonk was a sexy Southern man as bent on charming her pants off as he is on blowing her "true love doesn't exist" theory all to hell.

I'm definitely not a prude and I enjoy a spicy romance, but this book screams of horniness every five minutes. I get it...the characters are hot and horny! No need to keep pounding it home. It definitely distracts from the story.
I purchased this book because I really enjoy Xe Sands as a narrator. Hats off to her for being able to wade through this writing.

Liked the first book in the series more
Revisado: 08-29-19
I enjoy Trace Peterson's books because they tell a good story without being overly "preachy" and they don't need sex scenes to hold your interest. While Abriana was an interesting character in the first book, I grew weary of her ignoring good, sound advice and putting absolutely everything in God's hands. There were times when a little common sense was called for, especially when your life could be in danger.
Alyssa Bresnahan did another great job as narrator. You can easily distinguish the characters from one another and she definitely weaves their personalities into their voices.

Historia
Despite her spoiled upbringing, 20-year-old Lenore Fulcher isn't pretentious. She simply believes a marriage should be built on true love. Her father, however, thinks she's wasted enough time searching for the perfect husband. He wants to marry her off to one of his business partners - who is 17 years her senior - an idea that is out of the question for Lenore.

Sweet story
Revisado: 08-29-19
This was a sweet story with a bit of a struggle for the characters, like most of Tracie Peterson's books. That said, I like that when I purchase a book by Ms. Peterson I have an idea about what I'm getting...a good, well-written read that weaves a story without a lot of crazy sex and cursing. Alyssa Bresnahan is a great narrator and makes it easy to distinguish one character from another. The book held my interest and had me looking forward to the next book in the series.

Really enjoyed this book!
Revisado: 08-03-19
This book wasn't at all like I thought it would be...it was better! While Ms. Gottlieb wrote a great story, she also gave me food for thought. Having been in therapy on and off over the years, it was really interesting to get a therapist's perspective on how personality traits, wording, and attitudes tell a therapist a lot about the patient. Some of her insights caused me to reflect on my own behaviors. The bottom line is that this is a very entertaining and interesting book.

Slow starter...
Revisado: 08-03-19
I've read a number of Judith Miller's books and have always enjoyed them. Because I was about half way through the book before it caught my interest, I didn't think this would be the case with this book. But finally, things picked up and the book gained some momentum and strength. It was a good "mystery" with the standard love formula. As always, Ms. Miller throws in some characters that make you smile/laugh, which is enjoyable. I look forward to reading more of Ms. Miller's books.
