Great listen, with a very odd choice of ending.

I struggle with this narrator, but the story carried.
I will be following this series and author.

That said... the timing of the ending was a strange choice. It's almost like it was chosen based on word count instead of any pacing or narrative decision... it just, ends.

If you need a tidy ending, you.may want to wait until the next book is out, and listen to them back to back.

The writing deserves a low rating, but the narrator carries it up.

I needed to remind myself to not think too critically to finish listening.

Do not pay attention to time, one year, three months, one month, multiple weeks, one semester - none of these really matter, all are used to describe the same length of time.

Do not pay attention to how dungeons work, it changes constantly and is inconsistent.

Do not pay attention to the MC's back story, he has internal dialog about how he is just a pick pocket and not a real thief - then has a history of being a thief - then is just a pickpocket (again, internal dialog, not just lying to cover for himself) - then he is great at picking locks from his thieving carrier.

Do not think too hard on the politics inserted... none of it makes sense.

If you can do these things, this listen is for you!

I'll be listening to the next book, because it is great background noise while gardening... I just need to keep reminding myself to not think too hard about all the contradictions.

Great start.
MC is great.
Side characters are great.
System is good.
Narration is great.

I'm looking forward to how this story develops, and will be looking out for the next installment.

To the reviews that will undoubtedly be posted about the author having side characters that are not heterosexual; gay people exist, get over it.

It's a slow start, but very worth it.

Book 1 was great.
It is NOTHING like book 2, a teenage boys fever sex dream with animals.

If you're into that, this series is for you.

MC is written inconsistantly.

I was sitting there thinking Sal was mind controlled in some way to subject himself to what he was put through.

By the end of the book I just felt rug pulled.

When Erica is involved, he just rolls over, and there really isn't an explanation for it. Make it make sense.

It was extremely inconsistent to have the end play out how it did.

Divinity would never have let that happen.
If you read book 1 and 1/2 of book 2, Sal wouldn't have let that happen.

Writing is great.
World is wonderful.
Character growth doesn't matter - there is no consistency.

Ended was horrid.

This will be my last listen in series.

Became very redundant. I'm unclear if the first few books were this bad.

I also unsure about all the (repeated) skill descriptions being read. Adding a "but! this skill does the exact opposite of the 3 sentences that were just used to describe it" became very tedious to listen to.

Voice actor is still prime, just can't carry the poor mechanics of this story.

I passed on listening to this for some time, while stalking reddit for new litrpg reads, the author had commented with flowchart describing books they have read/listening to.
Their commentary on the flowchart drove me to give this a try, and it didn't disappoint.

Audio sounds are horrid.

Story seems... very blah, but I like good background noise, this seemed like it would hit the spot.

buuuut the narrators, when talking using the mind/text thing say "huh!" every time they start speaking, and then there is a ding... they do this A LOT!

it is the most jarring/annoying thing I've ever experienced in an audio book.

also, seeing a 5star review about listening to the whole 12 hour audible a few hours after the release... who does that.

I stopped listening.
I'd return this but am too far in, the dings and "huh" don't start until a bit into the listen.
