Historia
A decade ago, psychologist Frieda Klein was sucked into the orbit of Dean Reeve - a killer able to impersonate almost anyone, a man who can disappear without a trace, a psychopath obsessed with Frieda herself. In the years since, Frieda has worked with - and sometimes against - the London police in solving their most baffling cases. But now she's in hiding, driven to isolation by Reeve. When a series of murders announces his return, Frieda must emerge from the shadows to confront her nemesis. And it's a showdown she might not survive.

Ending the story so well!
Revisado: 07-30-24
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed each book in this series. The main reason was Freida. I was as fascinated with her as were all the characters in this story. This last, 8th book, presented a perfect conclusion. I couldn’t imagine how the author would do it but it was powerful and satisfying.

Historia
Augustus Everett is an acclaimed author of literary fiction. January Andrews writes best-selling romance. When she pens a happily ever after, he kills off his entire cast. They’re polar opposites. In fact, the only thing they have in common is that for the next three months, they're living in neighboring beach houses, broke, and bogged down with writer's block.

Endearing characters!
Revisado: 07-11-24
Beach Read is a romance but not in the tradition sense. Both main characters face deep seated issues yet the book remains light hearted enough to be laugh out funny. The writing is great and the narrator is excellent. So glad I listened to the reviews! Highly recommend.

Revisado: 07-05-24
This is a beautiful story. The charters are so vividly drawn that I know it will stay with me a long, long time. My life is a little richer for having read it and, as a bonus, it’s certainly given me a lasting love for penguins!

Historia
Into Keldale's pastoral web of old houses and older secrets comes Scotland Yard Inspector Thomas Lynley, the eighth earl of Asherton. Along with the redoubtable Detective Sergeant Barbara Havers, Lynley has been sent to solve a savage murder that has stunned the peaceful countryside. For fat, unlovely Roberta Teys has been found in her best dress, an ax in her lap, seated in the old stone barn beside her father's headless corpse. Her first and last words were "I did it. And I'm not sorry".

The characters are as real and fully drawn as people you might know. The story, the mystery, is quite complex. A dazzling combination. Much deeper than your usual police procedural. Heartily recommend.

Laughed out loud throughout the entire book!
Revisado: 04-12-24
This will be an extremely funny book for anyone who reads it but for those of us born in the 40s or 50s, it’s a delightful walk down memory lane. I kept laughing so hard that I continually woke up my dog, who had to wonder what could possibly be wrong with me. The 1950s had a lot that was wrong but this book celebrates the joyous days when we were young and the world seemed just about perfect.

Delightful story, well told!
Revisado: 11-30-23
I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this book. Fantasy isn’t one of my favorite genres. The characters, however, were very strong as well as unique. Our heroine was quite charming in her hapless way. The best part, for me was the outstanding narrator. I want her to read all my books going forward.

Excellent, compelling
Revisado: 05-21-23
This wonderful book will stay with me for a long time. I learned so much about myself and my own trauma. I was afraid that the book would be too “dark” but the saddest parts of the story were presented with sensitivity. The best part of the story was the final pages of the book. We can all heal if we do the work, speak our truth. We can connect with our own sweet child and save both of us. Heartily recommend.
