Historia
Austen wrote, 'I am going to take a heroine whom no-one but myself will much like' and thus introduces the handsome, clever, rich - and flawed, Emma Woodhouse. Emma is perfectly content with her life and sees no need for either love or marriage; nothing however delights her more than matchmaking her fellow residents of Highbury. But when she ignores the warnings of her good friend Mr. Knightley and attempts to arrange a suitable match for her protegee Harriet Smith, her carefully laid plans soon unravel and have consequences that she never expected.

Not good

Very hard to hear the story because of the background music and sound effects. After a while is was just plain annoying and I lost interest in the narrative.

Historia
Elementary school teacher Jacqueline "Jacks" Morales's marriage was far from perfect, but even in its ups and downs it was predictable, familiar. Or at least she thought it was...until two police officers showed up at her door with devastating news. Her husband of eight years, the one who should have been on a business trip to Kansas, had suffered a fatal car accident in Hawaii. And he wasn't alone.

Not the greatest.

What did you like about this audiobook?
I don't think so. I found it to be very wordy, the writers just went on and no and seemed got no where. And the female lead character was very winey and insecure. I kept waiting for her to pull up her big girl panties and just deal with it. I was thinking I didn't blame the husband for having an affair.
After only 1/4th of the way through the book I started skipping chapters 2 and 3 at a time. After a while of that I decided to return it and get my credit back. I didn't even care enough to skip to the ending.
How has the book increased your interest in the subject matter?
No I like the genra, just not these writers.
Does the author present information in a way that is interesting and insightful, and if so, how does he achieve this?
No. It was just too slow. This "after and before" stuff before each chapter was very annoying. Just tell the story and get on with it.
What did you find wrong about the narrator's performance?
Nope!!!!!!!

Historia
Illustrator Lucy Brighton loves her work. Her animal characters Izzy, Bizzy, and Lizzy have their own comic strip, card line, and children’s cartoon, and their popularity has given Lucy financial stability and freedom. Yet none of that quite erases the lingering ache of a cold, lonely childhood. Then Lucy receives a call to say that her mother and father have been killed in a car crash. While settling their affairs in Florida, Lucy begins to realize how little she really knew about their lives.

It's just ok.
Revisado: 03-03-15
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
I have not read or listened to a lot of Fern Michael's books but this one seems real slow to develop. I found I had to concentrate too much to keep interested. The premise of the book caught my attention but I just couldn't stay interested. And I never related to the characters.
I felt my time would be better spent elsewhere. In fact I only made it half way through the book before I decided go return it.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
I think I was put off by the narrator, something about her voice never held my interest very long.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
No

Do not bother.
Revisado: 03-11-14
What would have made Primetime Princess better?
It just went on and on, and on, far to wordy. The lead character is supposed to be a tv executive, but acts like a scared constantly whinging schoolgirl. I only made it thorough the first chapter and that was enough.
What was most disappointing about Lindy DeKoven’s story?
That the lead character. I wanted to like her, but her constant mental dialogue about how she didn't measure up was too much to take. As often as she talked about " having a set" even a steel "set " on her desk it was obvious they didn't work. I just kept wanting to scream at her " to pull up her big girl panties and deal" .
How did the narrator detract from the book?
She didn't help, her voice was very dull, as the book went on with the lead characters very long mental dialogue about all her inadequacies, it all became too much. Far too annoying to endure the whole book.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Great annoyances, eventually I just screamed in sheer frustration and turned it off.
Any additional comments?
I got it at a reduced price in one of the daily deals, but you can be sure I well ask for a refund.

As the Season of 1899 comes to an end, the world is poised on the brink of profound, irrevocable change. The Earl of Dilberne is facing serious financial concerns. The ripple effects spread to everyone in the household: Lord Robert, who has gambled unwisely on the stock market and seeks a place in the Cabinet; his unmarried children, Arthur, who keeps a courtesan, and Rosina, who keeps a parrot in her bedroom; Lord Robert's wife Isobel, who orders the affairs of the household in Belgrave Square; and Grace, the lady's maid who orders the life of her mistress.

A Downtonlike story read by my favorite narrator?

Just ok
Revisado: 02-25-14
What did you like best about Habits of the House? What did you like least?
It was a glimpse into life of the times, but the characters were not very likeable.
What could Fay Weldon have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
I found it very wordy. it seemed to go on a bit, and it was too easy to tune out.
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
Her accent fit the story and her characters were believable.
Was Habits of the House worth the listening time?
Not really if I hadn't gotten it on special for $4.95, I would have returned it right away.
Any additional comments?
All in all I was not impressed. Even at a reduced price it just wasn't worth it.
