Historia
The Years is a personal narrative of the period of 1941 to 2006 told through the lens of memory, impressions past and present - even projections into the future - photos, books, songs, radio, television, and decades of advertising and headlines, contrasted with intimate conflicts and written notes from six decades of diaries. Local dialect, words of the time, slogans, brands, and names for ever-proliferating objects are given a voice here. The voice we recognize as the author's continually dissolves and re-emerges.

Can’t say I enjoyed reading it
Revisado: 11-22-24
The author has excellent writing skills and ability of driving the words. Her opinions and comments about the historical events are sharp, sensitive and precise. However the story line is scattered everywhere. I don’t need to listen to her listing everything she went through. Going through everything yet nothing really stood out, not sure what the author is trying to express, The years, the life, is that all ?
Narrator did an excellent job.

Historia
When Elon Musk was a kid in South Africa, he was regularly beaten by bullies. One day a group pushed him down some concrete steps and kicked him until his face was a swollen ball of flesh. He was in the hospital for a week. But the physical scars were minor compared to the emotional ones inflicted by his father, an engineer, rogue, and charismatic fantasist.

His intellectual excellence and self driving nature
Revisado: 10-02-24
I resisted reading books about Musk for a few years due to his controversies. This book not only gave me a real sense of Elon Musk and understanding why and how he became who he is, it also told the stories of Tesla development, neurolink, SpaceX and starlink. It is way cool to see them cheering for starship knowing that they have made the first step. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and highly recommend it.

poor performance
Revisado: 08-11-24
I was very glad to find Chinese narrator. However her performance needs significant improvement. Words are not very clear, reading speed varies randomly without coordination with the content of the book. Overall I did not enjoy this Podcast like others. This is a very good book, too bad I could not enjoy it. I will have to buy the paper version of the book.

Historia
On May 18, 1860, William H. Seward, Salmon P. Chase, Edward Bates, and Abraham Lincoln waited in their hometowns for the results from the Republican National Convention in Chicago. When Lincoln emerged as the victor, his rivals were dismayed and angry. Throughout the turbulent 1850s, each had energetically sought the presidency as the conflict over slavery was leading inexorably to secession and civil war.

Historia
At the end of the Second World War, Cyril Conroy combines luck and a single canny investment to begin an enormous real estate empire, propelling his family from poverty to enormous wealth. His first order of business is to buy the Dutch House, a lavish estate in the suburbs outside of Philadelphia. Meant as a surprise for his wife, the house sets in motion the undoing of everyone he loves. The story is told by Cyril’s son Danny, as he and his older sister, the brilliantly acerbic and self-assured Maeve, are exiled from the house where they grew up by their stepmother.

Extraordinary life
Revisado: 07-06-22
Heard about this book was during our African trip 10 years ago. So I bought and read the book when I came home. Soon after that we became foster parents of Maxwell and a few elephants, and donated to trust yearly ever since. It’s our best investment.
Once I discovered the audio version of the book , I listened 3 times. Thoroughly enjoyed this book each every time. Don’t remember how many times the sad stories brought tears when I was driving and listening. Narrator did a superb job telling the story. Thank you. Because of this book and love from the African elephants, I will always support the David Sheldrick wildlife trust.

The lovable pup, who would later earn the name Gobi, proved that what she lacked in size, she more than made up for in heart, as she went step for step with Dion over the Tian Shan Mountains and across massive sand dunes, keeping pace with him for 77 miles.

In Being Mortal, best-selling author Atul Gawande tackles the hardest challenge of his profession: how medicine can not only improve life but also the process of its ending. Medicine has triumphed in modern times, transforming birth, injury, and infectious disease from harrowing to manageable. But in the inevitable condition of aging and death, the goals of medicine seem too frequently to run counter to the interest of the human spirit.
