Historia
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Historia
Roland Tankowicz wasn't even legally a person anymore. The aging cyborg had never really recovered from being betrayed and enslaved by his superiors in the Army, and the final insult of being permanently classified as "defunct military ordnance" had been a bitter pill to swallow. Now, he spent most of his time drinking beer and working as a fixer for the crime families in 25th-century Boston. It was easy money if you were the kind of guy who was bullet-proof and could pick up a house.

An unexpected find
Revisado: 01-11-19
When I bought this book it didn't have a lot of reviews so even though it had a good rating I didn't fully trust it. The only reason I bought it was because it was recommended from a different author who I like. So I came into this book with kind of low expectations. So when I found myself really enjoying this book it was a pleasant surprise.
This is a fun story and it breaks the mold for the traditional Sci-Fi military book. I definitely recommend it.

Entertaining but Cliche
Revisado: 08-06-18
It was a fun entertaining story. It was overall incredibly cliche and pretty unbelievable from a science fiction pov. But if you ignore that and want a little entertainment than it is worth a credit. Especially when you consider you get 2 books.

Good Science, OK writing
Revisado: 10-20-15
Any additional comments?
First, let me state that I was giving a free credit to listen to and give an unbiased review.
Overall, I thought this story had a lot going for it. The problem I had is that the author tried to cram to much in to one story and so none of the characters could really be fully developed.
Also, as much as I like and appreciate the extra religious add-ins to this book, it just didn't seem genuine. Maybe if you got to know the characters better then this information could have been inserted a little bit better.
Lastly, the Point Of View (POV) transitions weren't done well. Maybe in the actual book, there is an indication that shows you are now listening to a new character but from the audio book I some times couldn't tell when the character POV changed. Which made me get lost for a few moments.
In addition, I thought the audio narrator did a good job. She made the book easy to listen to but she did have very minor hiccup where she repeats a sentence twice in a row. (either that or my phone messed up... but I think it was the recording).
Again, I really liked the science. I liked the terminology. I liked the space fights. Maybe the technology was so advanced that it appeared to be more like magic, but overall it was an OK book. If they would have cut out about 1/4 of the extra plot and doubled the length of the book with good character development than I can see it really going somewhere.

Voodoo Boxing Magic
Revisado: 09-09-15
Any additional comments?
In case a boxing detective was not enough. Add in voodoo magic, corrupt prison bosses, mob bosses, and a corrupt New Orleans police chief and you got your self a swamp walloping adventure.
This is a fun book, if a little silly with the voodoo magic portion of it, that takes you on the adventure of Felony Flynn as he continues to figure against corruption using his awesome boxing skills.
If you like boxing and detective work, then this story is for you.
I made this comment before but my biggest complaint is that this book was not listed as part of the series in audible so I listed to this book before listening to felony fists. This is book 2, felony fists is book 1.

A incorruptible police officer boxer
Revisado: 09-09-15
Any additional comments?
A incorruptible policeman boxer, what is not to like? It was a fun short story from the 50's with gangsters, boxing, and police officers without red tape. It was a lot of fun. I found I really liked the main character and his attitude to do the right things without caring for red tape, bureaucrats, and policy.
I also liked the narrator, he did a good job with the accents.
My only complaint is that this book was not listed as part of the series in audible so I listed to this book after listening to Swamp Walloper (the second book). Just to be clear, this is book 1. Swamp Walloper is book 2.

Good book to teach kindness
Revisado: 04-15-15
Any additional comments?
So let me state up front that I know the audio book narrator and I listened to this book for that reason.
This book is definitely not the normal type of book I would listen to, but that being said, I found myself enjoying this book a lot. It is targeted at a young teenager/tween age group and creates a magical world of Ferries and Zorin's to help teach the lessons of kindness, caring, and compassion. There are some heavy topics in this book (parent dies in military, childhood abuse, angered father trying to kill his family, bullying, etc) but I think it is good to bring these up to kids so that they can see how lucky they are. Plus, i think this book can really help kids to try to look deeper and understand that there are normally reasons people act certain ways and that we shouldn't be too quick to judge.
Anyway, long story short, i found myself caught up in this book and enjoyed it thoroughly. Elle is probably the most well behaved 10 year old I have ever heard of but that being said maybe it will be example of kids who read this book.
About the narrator. I think L C Kane did a great job narrating this book. Occasionally her Man voice sounds a little bit silly, but 99% of this book is from the perspective of a girl and she nailed it. I would definitely listen to a book that she narrates again.

Awesome book, niche audience, great narrator!
Revisado: 03-07-15
I really enjoyed this book, but I like these kinds of books. For most YA they might not want to read some thing this heavy. Either way, I liked it and I would definitely listen a sequel if they ever wote one.
Oh, I also think the narrator did a fantastic job. She made the book really come alive.
