Historia
In this “rich, complex family saga” (USA Today) full of long-buried family secrets, Marilyn Connolly and David Sorenson fall in love in the 1970s, blithely ignorant of all that awaits them. By 2016, they have four radically different daughters, each in a state of unrest.

such a lovely read!
Revisado: 12-09-24
The narrator was astoundingly great, I could immediately tell who was speaking based on her affect/tone etc, and the story was absolutely beautiful. A true picture of family, dysfunctional only in the way that every family is. Couldn't recommend enough!

Historia
Lorel has always dreamed of becoming a witch—learning magic, fighting monsters, and exploring the world beyond the small town where she and her mother run the stables. Even though a strange plague is killing the trees in the Kingdom of Cekon and witches are being blamed for it, Lorel wants nothing more than to join them. There’s only one problem: all witches are women, and she was born a boy. When the coven comes to claim her best friend, Lorel disguises herself in a dress and joins in her friend’s place, leaving home and her old self behind.

Historia
It’s been a decade since Trumanell Branson disappeared, leaving only a bloody handprint behind. Her pretty face still hangs like a watchful queen on the posters on the walls of the town’s Baptist church, the police station, and in the high school. They all promise the same thing: We will find you. Meanwhile, Tru's brother, Wyatt, lives as a pariah in the desolation of the old family house, cleared of wrongdoing by the police but tried and sentenced in the court of public opinion and in a new documentary about the crime.

Beautifully written
Revisado: 02-05-24
I have finished numerous other books since listening to this and I find myself often thinking of this book, it really stuck with me. I read a lot of "murder books" and this is a favorite -- it doesn't rely on cheap thrills or gruesome details, the author is just actually a really beautiful writer. The story is compelling but the characters feel so real and the structure really works. Highly recommend.
