So Many Complaints
Revisado: 05-04-25
I love visiting Italy so I thought I would give this second book a chance even though I hardly enjoyed the first book. The complaints about Italian life are overwhelming and exacerbated by the virtual voice. I don't usually write reviews, but I am hoping that virtual voice doesn't become the standard as it certainly affects the pleasure of listening to a book.

Virtual voice ruins the experience
Revisado: 05-01-25
I am unsure if I enjoyed this book because the virtual voice is so distracting. I have been to Italy several times and know how charming it is. I think that a lot of this story was supposed to be funny in a good way, part of the charm of Italy, but to me the virtual voice made the words sound like complaints. Too bad.

Very Strange Story
Revisado: 06-16-23
I think you have to live in Los Angeles to understand this book. I don't live there, so the story will remain beyond my comprehension. As I listened to it, I kept thinking how silly the whole concept was and felt sad that it is a memoir. With no true ending to the story my final thought was to wonder if the whole short trip and the subsequent book was a marketing ploy for her real estate job.

Historia
Nestled into the cliffs in southern Italy's Amalfi coast, Positano is an artist's vision, with rows of brightly hued houses perched above the sea and picturesque staircases meandering up and down the hillside. Santina, still a striking woman despite old age and the illness that saps her last strength, is spending her final days at her home, Villa San Vito. The magnificent 18th-century palazzo is very different from the tiny house in which she grew up. And as she decides its fate, she must confront the choices that led her here so long ago.

Wow Wow Wow
Revisado: 08-29-21
Not only does the narration by the author perhaps set a high standard that will be difficult to match, her writing deserves the same accolade.
My husband, also a writer, and I listened together and immersed ourselves in the beautiful multi layered story.
We were so appreciative of the author’s craft that my husband wrote her to tell her how much we were enjoying the book.
