Great narration

This kept me hooked! A pleasant surprise in the plus library! The narrator was very talented and I loved all the history mixed in with the present day mystery.

Historia
You heard the story on the news. A girl and a boy went into the woods. The girl carried a picnic basket. The boy wore bright yellow running shoes. The girl found her way out, but the boy never did.... Everyone thinks they know what happened. Some say Tabby pushed him off that cliff - she didn't even like hiking. She was jealous. She had more than her share of demons. Others think he fell accidentally - she loved Mark. She would never hurt him...even if he hurt her.

Slow burn with disappointment at the end.

I’d save your credit for something else. I got it thinking it would be a quick, decent thriller, who done it listen. It’s was kind of all over the place and the ending is terrible.

Just ok...

I guess I expected more with this being turned into a TV show. I haven’t watched the show, I wanted to “read” the book beforehand. Now I’m having trouble imagining this as a show. The plot seemed shallow at points and the protagonists are in no way self-redeeming. I think the author wants us to feel sorry for Mrs. Richardson but I sure didn’t. It’s well narrated but the story was a bit of a let down.

Historia
Since she was nine years old, Alina Dziak knew she would marry her best friend, Tomasz. Now 15 and engaged, Alina is unconcerned by reports of Nazi soldiers at the Polish border, believing her neighbors that they pose no real threat, and dreams instead of the day Tomasz returns from college in Warsaw so they can be married. But little by little, injustice by brutal injustice, the Nazi occupation takes hold, and Alina’s tiny rural village, its families, are divided by fear and hate. Then, as the fabric of their lives is slowly picked apart, Tomasz disappears.

Very well written

This story kept me listening enthusiastically! I love the time jumps and the narration. I kind of saw the twist coming but it was still beautifully done. I definitely recommend this title!
