I loved this story. One of thr two narrators annoyed me a bit. He didn't sound like his character at all. It was the one that played Parker. The lines were playful and smirks, but he was pretty monotonous. I really loved the story.

Weird in places...

The story is sweet. What got me thinking "weird was the amount of times the gay heroes talk or think about vaginas. Like, I can't claim to know for sure, but it was weird how many times the characters mention hating vaginas. It certainly impacted the voice of the character. Also, all 3 of the 5-6year old characters have the exact same "bossy" and "sassy" personalities. It certainly seems like more character diversity (not just lgbt+) is needed.

So this was way less funny than some other books by this author. As always, the characters were rich and vibrant. The plot, though predictable, was rewarding and heartening. The NZ accent was hot.

My only critique of this book was its glossing over some serious grief. the way they were grieving felt more like the parents had been gone for 6 years than 6 months. It felt underdeveloped.

A broody man with reason to brood

So the author did well at making a hero who was imperfectly perfect. The ableism storyline was sweet and better than I've seen done sometimes. The heroine was quirky, but that aspect of her was more told than showed. It was sweet, but tissue warning: It did make me cry.

This story is well written and the reading voice is very good. I liked how the flashbacks were seamlessly built in to add depths to the romance. It's a sweet story. It could have been less glossed over on the romantic bits. More spice is better generally. but the love story itself was well done.

Clean and sweet

So I'm a suckered for a romance. My tastes generally lean toward the dark romance or smutty books. But Noone writes characters and conflict as interesting and delightful as Lily's. I fell in love with these characters as much as I have all of her characters. Though it's not spicy, the love is real and it's so nice to read a book with more conflict than "This grown person accept communicate." And so many romances have that as the conflict. I highly recommend this and all of her other works.

So I have listened to these books. the first one had some action and intrigue. The second one lacked that and this one was a snooze. at this point, I don't care about the fourth.
