Historia
Alexa Chase, 34, a brilliant profiler in the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit, was too good at her job. Haunted by all the serial killers she caught, she left a stunning career behind to join the US Marshals. As a deputy marshal, Alexa could immerse herself in a simple career of hunting down fugitives. But with her recent work a big success, the FBI and the Marshals have decided to make their joint-task force permanent. Alexa, reeling from her own traumatic past and her PTSD of hunting serial killers, has no choice: She will now have to work with an FBI partner she dislikes.

Historia
On takeoff from Denver during a winter blizzard, an airliner piloted by veteran Captain Marty Mitchell overruns a commuter plane from behind. Bizarrely, the fuselage of the smaller aircraft is tenuously wedged onto the wing of his Boeing 757, leading Mitchell to an impossible life-or-death choice. Mitchell’s decision will land the former military pilot in the crosshairs of a viciously ambitious district attorney determined to send him to prison for doing his job.

When Kate Burke is awakened one night by a sound outside her window, her PTSD is triggered. Was it simply a deer crossing her secluded backyard? Or was it intruders? Because Kate still lives with the dreadful memories of her husband’s murder during a seemingly random home invasion two years before, she knows the answer can mean the difference between life and death. But when she discovers the unsettling ways her property has been vandalized the next day, Kate is forced to conclude the worst: someone is watching her.

Book two of the series is better than the first. There is a greater sense of character development and understanding of the intended premise. I look forward to book three.

Decent story but lacked that special something
Revisado: 11-26-21
I'm not sure if it was attempting to be a police procedural, a serial killer suspense, or crime scene investigation / medical examiner drama. Maybe Rigby is going for a little of everything. While I didn't wholehearted enjoy listening, I'll go ahead and give the next book in the series a try. Perhaps with character development, the books will get better.
The performance wasn't fantastic, but that I can admit is due to my own personal preferences and should not be used by others as a true indication of the narrator's skills. I am not a fan of novels set in the UK nor narrated by "British" English speakers. As a person from the Midwestern United States, I am most comfortable listening to audio books that mimic my own voice.
I have nothing against people from the UK or people who have an accent. It doesn't effect the quality of television, film, theatre, etc... It just causes a dissonance between my internal reading voice and the narrator's voice. However, it seems that Kindle and audible are curating more and more content from the UK.
Well, that was a tangent I didn't plan on taking... However, I hope it provides a useful and fair review of the book.

Historia
Ensor is no ordinary cop. He's a hero, winner of the Medal of Valor, devoted family man and coach, helping at-risk kids. But the driver who struck him down and didn't stop isn't ordinary either. He's Judge Frank Stevenson, up-and-coming member of the bench, also devoted to his wife and daughter, involved in charities and good works. In a split second he did something completely uncharacteristic that changes his life and the lives of everyone close to him.

Excited for its release - Sadly disappointed.
Revisado: 10-15-21
I like Barry Eisler and the characters in this series of Novels. Unfortunately, The Chaos Kind, is a bit too true to its title.
The plot was chaotic, had too many ebb and flow moments, and ultimately not believable.
Eisler's narration was boring and uninspired during most of the book. Some characters voices were nothing short of painful. While they may have been the recipients of enhanced interrogation techniques, our ears ended up being tortured.
This review may seem too harsh for some and I encourage any fan of Eisler's to read/listen to the book. I personally did not enjoy it, but have hope that Eisler's future novels may be redeeming.

Revisado: 04-11-21
One minute I had a slight idea about the plot then I had to keep restarting chapters to figure out what was going on. Next thing I knew, I was hearing the epilogue. I'm not sure there was even a climax or conclusion before that. I've read all of the Joe DeMarco books in order and this was buy far the worst of them all.

Prior to this series, I hadn't heard of the Author Charlie Huston. His talent and style is truly impressive! The plot and characters were well developed and most, even the "bad guys" were likable at times. I hope he continues writing in the same genre and style.

Another good (not great) book in the series!
Revisado: 03-03-21
This is another good listen in the series by Victor Methos. The characters are well developed and you either hate them or love them. Methos has a unique way of making you love the characters you're usually meant to dislike.
I did find this story to be a bit more difficult to follow as the characters and subplots developed. Without spoiling anything, by the time you discover the killer's true identity, you find yourself asking, "Who?!".
The complexity of victims and suspects and relationships to past victims and past crimes starts to become overwhelming.
Overall, if you can make it through the confusion and drowsiness inducing minutia, you'll come away satisfied.
