The anti-white racism of the political left remains one of the few taboo subjects in America. In this book, David Horowitz, a former confidante of the Black Panthers, lays bare the liberal attack on "whiteness", the latest battle in the war against American democracy.

Engrossing
Revisado: 11-09-21
This is in part an engrossing memoir of Horowitz's experiences as a member of the radical left, in part a fascinating work of investigative journalism about the betrayal of the United States by three Clinton administration. If you've ever wondered how China caught up to the US in supercomputing and other technologies, the answer is here. What is really shocking is how few people know the truth.

Historia
This book is geared to the average citizen with little or no economics background who would like the tools to think critically about economic issues. Many of today's economic issues are obscured by their inherent complexity and the often confusing and conflicting views coming from political talking heads. Sowell, a leading conservative economist and senior fellow at the Hoover Institution, seeks to alleviate this confusion.

In characteristic Thomas Sowell fashion, this book is clear, engaging, and well argued, with every assertion backed up by facts or examples.

Historia
According the New York Times’ “1619 Project”, America was not founded in 1776, with a declaration of freedom and independence, but in 1619 with the introduction of African slavery into the New World. Ever since then, the “1619 Project” argues, American history has been one long sordid tale of systemic racism.

impressive scholarship
Revisado: 09-17-21
Unlike the dishonest and tendentious 1619 Project, this book is impressive in the depth and breadth of its scholarship. More than a simple debunking of the 1619 Project, it provides a fascinating picture of the history of slavery and freedom in the United States. Perhaps the most surprising thing I learned was that a significant number of free blacks in the American South were themselves slave owners. Highly recommended.

Historia
Philosophy professor Christina Sommers has exposed a disturbing development: how a group of zealots, claiming to speak for all women, are promoting a dangerous new agenda that threatens our most cherished ideals and sets women against men in all spheres of life. In case after case, Sommers shows how these extremists have propped up their arguments with highly questionable but well-funded research, presenting inflammatory and often inaccurate information and stifling any semblance of free and open scrutiny.

Shocking
Revisado: 08-29-21
I was shocked by the compelling evidence presented of the dishonesty of modern feminism and the failure of journalists, foundations, and government to subject their claims to criticism. The parallels between gender feminism and critical race theory are quite apparent. Both are cynical attacks on our free, individual-centered way of life. This book still seems timely today, several decades after it was written. I look forward to listening to more books by this author.

Historia
Howard Zinn’s A People’s History of the United States has sold over 2.5 million copies and is still required reading in some high school and college classrooms. But its polemic rewriting of American history as a story of oppression is an agenda-driven fairy tale that has no place in academia. In Debunking Howard Zinn, Mary Grabar debunks Howard Zinn’s lies and traces the damage his mega-bestseller has done to American education, culture, and politics.

devastating
Revisado: 08-19-21
This book shows convincingly that Zinn is a dishonest historian who deliberately distorts the past through the lens of his ideology. He's an apologist for some of the most murderous regimes in history, yet stops at nothing to paint the United States as a misbegotten malefactor. Well worth reading.

Historia
Thomas Sowell takes a tough, factual look at whether the civil rights movement has lived up to its hopes or its rhetoric. In the decades since the historic Supreme Court decision on desegregation, who has gained and who has lost? Which of the assumptions behind the civil rights revolution have stood the test of time, and which have proven to be mistaken or even catastrophic to those who were supposed to be helped?

Could have been written yesterday
Revisado: 08-13-21
As I listened to this book I was stuck by how little has changed since it was written nearly 40 years ago. Indeed, the insistence of some that disparities between the races are evidence of racism is even louder than in the 1980s, with just as little basis. Sowell clearly and dispassionately shows how weak this thesis is. His book is well worth our time even today.

Historia
In Woke, Titania McGrath demonstrates how everybody can play their part in the pursuit of social justice. As a millennial icon on the forefront of online activism, Titania is uniquely placed to guide her listeners through the often bewildering array of terminology and concepts that constitute 21st-century 'wokeness'. These new ideas often leave the general public bemused, particularly if they don't read the Guardian. Being woke is actually much easier than people think. As Titania demonstrates, anyone can be an activist.

Factfulness: The stress-reducing habit of carrying only opinions for which you have strong supporting facts. When asked simple questions about global trends - what percentage of the world's population live in poverty; why the world's population is increasing; how many girls finish school - we systematically get the answers wrong. In Factfulness, professor of international health and global TED phenomenon Hans Rosling, together with his two longtime collaborators, Anna and Ola, offers a radical new explanation of why this happens.

Halting presentation
Revisado: 01-29-21
The presenter inserts so many inappropriate pauses that I had to listen to the text on higher speed.
The text is generally very good, with one exception: the authors are clearly advocates of socialised medicine. They compare the US to other countries using *averages*, which they earlier characterize correctly as a misleading approach!

Historia
Listener beware: Kevin D. Williamson - the lively, literary firebrand from National Review who was too hot for The Atlantic to handle - comes to bury democracy, not to praise it. With electrifying honesty and spirit, Williamson takes a flamethrower to mob politics, the “beast with many heads” that haunts social media and what currently passes for real life. It’s destroying our capacity for individualism and dragging us down “the Road to Smurfdom, the place where the deracinated demos of the Twitter age finds itself feeling small and blue.”

It has become virtually impossible to honestly discuss race, gender, and class issues in mainstream American society because if you dare repeat certain "tabooo truths", you'll be ostracized as a bigot. Professor Wilfred Reilly (author of Hate Crime Hoax and The $50,000,000 Question) fearlessly presents ten of these truths here and investigates why the mainstream is so afraid to acknowledge that they're true.

interesting
Revisado: 01-02-21
An interesting, fact heavy book that covers much ground and does so without pulling punches. The control left and alt right are both dealt blows.
One annoying issue is the confused usage of "percentage" and "percentage points".
