Thought Provoking Book and a Must Read!
Revisado: 03-08-25
Each chapter has a thought provoking question along with a personal story she shares in a conversational manner to help the reader think through the questions. She’s open, vulnerable, funny, and real. It felt like I was having lunch with a girlfriend and talking through life. She’s encouraging throughout the book, wanting the best life for her readers. I really enjoyed the book!

Amazing book!!
Revisado: 01-16-25
Wow!! This is one of the best affirming books I’ve ever read/listened to. I’ve recommended this book to all of my friends.
I love how Mel shared the science along with the life advice that can make a difference with the people in your life. She’s vulnerable enough to share her own life lessons that tie into each part of this book.
I appreciate that she had a section including “let me”. Not only letting others do what they are going to do, but also how important it is to let yourself do what you want to do.
She included ways to support someone in your life to make changes IF they are ready for them. But letting them be them is most important. There’s a freedom in knowing that we don’t need nor should we try to control others. Just let them be.

An interesting fictional read
Revisado: 01-10-24
At first, I didn’t want to keep listening because the plot was so impossible. But, I kept listening and it for more interesting. The main character complains like a teenager (her age) so that part was annoying. As she aged, so did her maturity and she stopped complaining as much (whew!). It makes some good life lessons at the very end of the book.

Sweet story
Revisado: 12-02-23
The story is about a lonely woman who goes on an adventure. She learns to find joy in the small things. I don’t want to give away too much in the story. The voice recording of the boy was annoying, but the authors words meant well. It’s an easy read.

Boring read
Revisado: 11-17-23
This book tells the tale of a woman who goes along with whatever other people decide for her. She’s not an inspiring character. You can listen at 1.5 speed and feel like you’re catching all of it. If you’re an actor, I can see it being a better fit, this was hard for me to connect with. I kept listening because it was our Book Club book, but it was a struggle for my brain who likes action, mystery, and thought provoking books. If you like slow, simple books then you may like this one.

Revisado: 09-19-23
This book not only gives tactical things you can do to save yourself time and energy but it also helps relieve teachers of the stress we put on ourselves. This book is written by an actual classroom teacher who is also a mom, so she gets the juggling act! I learned some helpful tips in this book! She also gives free resources.

At last, an audiobook of sage advice that will help frustrated parents reconnect with their teenager and keep that connection even in today's often-crazy world. The first step is simple: Realizing that inside every teen resides two very different people - the regressed child and the emergent adult. The emergent adult is seen at school, on the playing field, in his first job, and in front of his friends' families. Unfortunately, his parents usually see only the regressed child - moody and defiant.

A must read for parents of teens!
Revisado: 06-01-23
This book was so helpful in understanding my teenagers, giving me a lot of “ah, that’s why” moments. The author shares stories from parents who applied the lessons he provided during the book, giving you real life examples. There are actionable items that he shared as well as questions you can ask your teens that go beyond the typical ones many of us ask/do. I’ll be reading this book over and over. I’m sharing with my mom friends!

Historia
Think of The War of Art as tough love...for yourself. Since 2002, The War of Art has inspired people around the world to defeat "resistance"; to recognize and knock down dream-blocking barriers and to silence the naysayers within us. Resistance kicks everyone's butt, and the desire to defeat it is equally as universal. The War of Art identifies the enemy that every one of us must face, outlines a battle plan to conquer this internal foe, then pinpoints just how to achieve the greatest success.

This book was way too disturbing for me
Revisado: 12-14-22
If you’re a sensitive soul like me, this is not the book for you. The killer described in great detail about how he kills his victims and puts them in situations with fear. Then he describes the joy he gets from this experience.
“Stand guard to the door of your mind.” I had to stop because I couldn’t let these images in my mind and heart anymore. I recommend a book that’s inspiring and leaves you feeling better after reading it.

This is a MUST READ
Revisado: 08-18-22
Wow!! Each chapter in this book is gold! Ed Mylett gives examples for each lesson in the book from leaders all across the world, as well as from his whole life. It will really help to change your mindset about doing, “one more“ There’s a chapter on guidance to anyone in a leadership position, whether in your family or at work, or in an organization. The last chapter when he talks about his dad will inspire you to spend time and appreciate the loved ones you have in your life. I enjoyed hearing Ed Mylett narrate the book. I was bummed when it was over. It’s a book you can listen to over and over to, and one you’ll want to gift to your friends and family.
