They are coming. The countdown has begun. First visible only as blips on a telescope image, the discovery of objects approaching from Jupiter's orbit immediately sets humanity on edge. NASA doesn't even bother to deny the alien ships' existence. The popular Astral space app (broadcasting from the far side of the moon and accessible by anyone with Internet) has already shown the populace what is coming.

Narrator was the best part of the story
Revisado: 10-23-19
I agree with most of the reviews that talk about the looooooong duration of getting through Chicago. The narrator (who was absolutely fantastic) made it worthwhile to listen to even with the amount of whining and points of view given. The story did not progress at a good pace. I'm torn whether or not I will go for the next one.

Can't get through the book
Revisado: 11-18-17
I am not sure if the writing is so bad, but the narration is awful. The timing, the accents, the overall acting was just terrible and do distracting that I can't continue past the first couple of chapters. It's a good thing this was included in my unlimited library or I would be mad that I wasted a credit.

Fantastic Ending to a Fantastic Series
Revisado: 12-14-15
I am a big fan of fairy tales and was captivated by this series from the first. I know I would not have liked them as much if I had read them, though. These (to me) were so great as audiobooks. Although the narrator's voice at first didn't appeal to me, I came to appreciate how wonderful she was in keeping in character and all of the different accents. She truly brought the story to life and I am glad they kept her for all of the books. I highly recommend this as well as all of the others in the series for both young adults and adults young at heart.

Was a bit slow in places but awesome as usual
Revisado: 01-08-15
I like anything Peter Hamilton writes and this book was a wonderful spin off to get to know Nigel Sheldon (one of characters from other books). Hamilton spins complex stories so it's often difficult to follow. Listening to his books especially by such a great narrator makes it more enjoyable for me. I highly recommend listening to this book and can't wait for the next installment.

Historia
Set in a postapocalyptic world, this tale of courage, sacrifice, and heroism takes place against the backdrop of an age of steam and rational humanism, where the social elite have rejected religion and spiritualism as nothing more than quaint superstition. Brutal Vampire Clans rule half the world, keeping human herds for food, and Princess Adele, heir to the throne of Equatoria, is faced with grim choices. War is imminent and her marriage to the odious Senator Clark of America will cement an alliance uniting the Equatorian Empire and the American Republic.

Typical Middle of the series
Revisado: 02-11-14
James Marsters excels as usual in the performance of this book. I bought the book because he was the narrator, but the story is excellent as well. Great plot, very interesting and I'm really looking forward to the final installment. The first book was more interesting of course as it usually happens. This is the usual middle installment that sets the stage for the end.

Historia
Few books have captivated the imagination and won the devotion and praise of readers and critics everywhere as has George R. R. Martin’s monumental epic cycle of high fantasy that began with A Game of Thrones. Now, in A Feast for Crows, Martin delivers the long-awaited fourth book of his landmark series, as a kingdom torn asunder finds itself at last on the brink of peace . . . only to be launched on an even more terrifying course of destruction.

My least favorite of the series
Revisado: 02-11-14
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
Yes because I wanted to find out what happened next, but it was incredibly slow and not much really happened.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
Meh
How did the narrator detract from the book?
While I am impressed with Mr. Dotrice's performance of the men voices, he SUCKS at performing Brienne, Danerys, Sansa and Arya. Every woman sounds like an old irish grandmother, which really detracts from the story.
Did A Feast for Crows inspire you to do anything?
no

Historia
1870. A time known as The Great Killing. The vampire clans arose and slaughtered humanity with unprecedented carnage in the northern parts of the world. Millions perished; millions were turned into herd animals. The great industrialized civilizations of the world were left in ruin. A remnant fled south to the safety of the ever present heat which was intolerable to vampires. There, blending with the local peoples, they rebuilt their societies founded on human ingenuity, steam and iron.

Story good - horribly over produced rendition
Revisado: 02-08-13
What did you love best about Beautiful Creatures?
The story line was interesting and had some good twists. The dialogue was witty and fun.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Beautiful Creatures?
I liked hearing about the house and funny interactions between main characters.
What didn’t you like about Kevin T. Collins’s performance?
I've lived in the South all of my life and it was PAINFUL to hear the over produced and exaggerated accents the narrator used. He's obviously a skilled performer, so I blame the director for his performance. It TOTALLY detracted from the story and there were times I wanted to stop listening because of that.
Any additional comments?
I cannot say enough of how over produced this performance way. The music, the sound effects, the exaggerated accents. If I was the author of this book I would be pissed at how this performance detracted from the story.
