Historia
This set includes all three books in AC Cobble's Cartographer Series. A pair of unlikely investigators walk a dangerous path into the past, uncovering secrets best left alone in this dark, fantasy thriller. The fate of empire is to crumble from within. A heinous murder in a small village reveals a terrible truth. Sorcery, once thought dead in Enhover, is not. Evidence of an occult ritual and human sacrifice proves that dark power has been called upon again. Twisting threads of clues lead across the known world to the end of a vast empire, and then, the trail returns home.

Kind of a cluttered story

A bit lewd
Revisado: 04-06-21
First three characters, all introduced during sexual situations. I’m not the most prudish person out there, but it did become kind of predictable. Not every book needs to emulate an hbo series.

Not as good as Sanderson’s later work
Revisado: 09-25-19
I’m a fan of Sanderson’s Stormlight Archive and Mistborn, but Elantris is a bit of a slog. Too much overt description of situations by the narrative. The dialogue doesn’t sound believable. The motivation for the major characters is thin. Skip this one.

Historia
Set in rural southern Ohio and West Virginia, The Devil All the Time follows a cast of compelling and bizarre characters from the end of World War II to the 1960s. There’s Willard Russell, tormented veteran of the carnage in the South Pacific, who can’t save his beautiful wife, Charlotte, from an agonizing death by cancer no matter how much sacrificial blood he pours on his “prayer log.”

Gripping, but pretty sadistic
Revisado: 11-12-17
I hung on till the end, but it was a rough ride. Interesting story, but at times I wasn’t sure why I was subjecting myself to this bleak story.
