Historia
In August of 1914, the British ship Endurance set sail for the South Atlantic. In October 1915, still half a continent away from its intended base, the ship was trapped, then crushed in the ice. For five months, Sir Ernest Shackleton and his men, drifting on ice packs, were castaways in one of the most savage regions of the world. Lansing describes how the men survived a 1,000-mile voyage in an open boat across the stormiest ocean on the globe and an overland trek through forbidding glaciers and mountains.

Solid
Revisado: 01-14-24
Another compelling Ken fillet novel. Admittedly not as gripping as some of the first in the series but you still end up caring about the characters and interested in what happens to them next. As usual, lots of those interesting details scattered about the story about life at that time. Liked the story and recommend, but not as good as pillars of fire.

Historia
Victor and Eli started out as college roommates—brilliant, arrogant, lonely boys who recognized the same sharpness and ambition in each other. In their senior year, a shared research interest in adrenaline, near-death experiences, and seemingly supernatural events reveals an intriguing possibility: that under the right conditions, someone could develop extraordinary abilities. But when their thesis moves from the academic to the experimental, things go horribly wrong.

Historia
Can’t Hurt Me, David Goggins’ smash hit memoir, demonstrated how much untapped ability we all have but was merely an introduction to the power of the mind. In Never Finished, Goggins takes you inside his Mental Lab, where he developed the philosophy, psychology, and strategies that enabled him to learn that what he thought was his limit was only his beginning and that the quest for greatness is unending.

In 1558 the ancient stones of Kingsbridge Cathedral look down on a city torn apart by religious conflict. As power in England shifts precariously between Catholics and Protestants, high principles clash bloodily with friendship, loyalty, and love. Ned Willard wants nothing more than to marry Margery Fitzgerald. But when the lovers find themselves on opposing sides of the religious divide sweeping across the country, Ned goes to work for Princess Elizabeth. When she becomes queen, all Europe turns against England.

Ambitious
Revisado: 01-27-23
This story has many different story lines that all eventually intertwine. Does it work? Probably. How compelling was it? Meh.
I love Ken follett but this story didn’t have the same allure as the previous ones in the kingsbridge series. It wasn’t bad and was an interesting depiction of the religious and political events of that era but again, the individual characters and story lines were just not as fascinating as they were in previous Books. Will still read the next one though!

Stunned
Revisado: 08-09-22
I love Blake crouch. Dark matter and recursion are two of my favourite books. Ever.
This one, on the other hand was so disappointing that I find it hard to believe it was written by the same author. It had none of the intrigue, genius or “wtf is going to happen next”that his other books have. With the others I couldn’t wait to finish to know what was going to happen. With this one I couldn’t wait to finish so that I’d be done and could move on to the next book.
Only reason I gave it a second star is because it’s Blake crouch. Not worth the time or money. Hope the next one is better.

There is literally 0 suspense in this book. You already know everything important 1/3 of the way into the story. Even without the suspense the story just isn’t compelling whatsoever. Waste of a credit. Waste of time. Don’t.
