I am a excited to see how Rat Damon really steps up and starts taking on a leadership role. Perhaps he can sire a whole new generation of rats to be summoned.

But I gave it a try because of Travis Baldtree, and I actually enjoyed it quite a bit. I am about to listen to the 2nd book and hope it’s just as good.

I couldn’t make it past the first fight.

Absolutely awful, the narration is so slow that there’s no sense of urgency during the beginning of the book and it some how sees slower during the first fight.
I hate it when authors claim the main character is a gamer or pro gamer then make them incompetent fools about the only thing they’re supposedly good at.

I really enjoy the modern military POV on a rpg/cultivation novel. The two need to get laid though.

Who makes a group with no healer?

I couldn’t stand Noah at all. He was written and read to be a whiny coward and it doesn’t stop from beginning to end. He has supposedly impressed the first two companions by just showing up and getting carried through the trials. I get that he’s a dorky kid with no physical skills, but he is constantly getting his ass kicked and doesn’t pick someone with any healing ability.

Main character

The main character is kind of a cowardly fool. He supposedly spent 10 years as a mercenary where he distinguished himself but the whole book he’s afraid and locks up in combat. I understand fighting monsters is different then humans, but the whole book. Even the half elf woman who spent most of her life as a hermit with her dad has more balls.
