Titus Welliver's delivery of Bosch just fits with the TV series. Good story line(s). Plausible.

No plot. Drags on with implausible story and narration all wrong. Hint of New England accent for Texans? Breathy, pleading of main character who basically drives along until she suckers someone into agreeing to kill her husband? C'mon. Tried to press on but couldn't get through it. Looking for other series/authors and narrator, and I enjoyed all previous books in series. Reacher becomes a kind of pathetic character eventually as well. You don't get to be a Major in the army by checking out on responsibility and drive. First book? Ok, struggling vet finding oneself, but to never get a grip and just continue drifting is too much for me at this point.

Another fantastic novel. Well researched and laid out. The insights into the US and international bioterrorism world make it worth the read alone.

Not as much depth as the original Clancy/Jack Ryan novels, but was pretty well written nonetheless. Clancy's originals (Hunt for Red October, Red Storm Rising, etc.) are a high bar to meet and this one fell short of that mark, IMO regarding the depth of research and scientific detail, but there were certain bright spots where due diligence was done. Compared to other books of the genre, this one was certainly as enjoyable and better written in several ways from other authors/franchises.

One of the things that stood out the most to me was the need to write about a time when technology was young but burgeoning. No small feat. For instance, the "brick phones" of the eighties as pre-cursors to the cell phone. I was coming of age in the eighties and I believe that Marc Cameron did well with this aspect of the book.

Parts of the story were shallow, however and could have stood much more detail. I would have liked the story to follow the NV crash of the F117 more closely, the fugitive from that scene and tying the two story lines together should have had more attention paid. It would have lengthened the book but would have added value. As it was, at the end of the book I found I was imagining a lot of the steps that must've been taken rather than following the story. As such, the book ended hurriedly and the conclusion of that part of the story was anticlimactic.

Overall, would I recommend? Yes. I wasn't disappointed, Could it have been better? Absolutely.

A note about the narrator...Scott Brick is an acquired taste. Every sentence is tense like there is some drama behind it. The problem is that in most of the book, there isn't. Once I got into the story it was ok, but it took some doing to overcome the initial annoyance. It sounded like he was trying too hard to make the book mysterious and dramatic rather than letting the story do that for itself.

Unlike other SEAL stories filled with bravado and self aggrandizement. Not to diminish what SEALs accomplish. It's truly incredible. Howard was able to bridge the divide between the top 1% of capability and the rest of us schmucks. He paints a picture of humanity within the warrior ranks. I found this to be a stellar read. Wasdin was able to blend the mental and physical toughness with a fierce competitive spirit with the feeling that he's a "regular guy" blessed with amazing capability.

The fits and starts of US Soecial Forces at the hands of politicians led to a series of "right men at the right time" to recognize the potential of small commando units both in and out of times of war. The country has had to learn many of the same lessons over and over again at the expense of the men most willing to charge forward and to never be out of the fight.

I have two gripes...

Overall I'd say this was an entertaining storyline with a solid narration. The two gripes I have are to do with writing style and a lack of understanding of a core tenet of action/adventure: guns.

I'm very pleased Ben Coes stopped using the term "nozzle" for the muzzle of the gun, but any shooter knows if you "yank" on the trigger your shot will be off. Triggers are squeezed - steady even pressure. Even a steady pull would be good...remove "yank" from the vocab when describing a trigger pull, Ben.

Second, there were many, many times in this book where the exact same verbiage was used to describe a setting in the very next sentence. For instance "Dewey was standing in the doorway of the marble lobby"... and then in next sentence "as he stood in the marble lobby"...it became almost a game to predict when it was going to happen again. It's not necessary to use the exact same descriptors twice in a row and became an annoying distraction by mid book.

Having said that, I will read the next Ben Coes book. They're plenty entertaining and generally well written with good characters.

The story line might have been plausible but the heroes' behavior and the seemingly lack of willingness for the protagonists to kill those poised to reveal everything was a bit much.

Once I got past the virtual monotone narration by Larry McKeever, I was able to become immersed in yet another amazingly detailed and well-spun story of Hawaii. I've enjoyed the fact-checking and fictionalized historical references equally. Superb storytelling...I just assume Michener will be read for time immemorial. What a fine mind.
