A Magnificent Experience!

This series has taken me through the gamut of human emotions.
The author has done a tremendous job of creating a family -- not a mere cast, but a FAMILY -- of characters you will love, root for, cry over, and yell at... not to mention want to hug for all the reasons hugs are shared.
Thank you for creating The Professor. He is the best kind of hero.

Listening perfection!

No one does it like Stephen Fry.
This isn't my first journey with him. I adored his Victorian Secrets series, as well as the 7 Deadly Sins.
But this whirl with the Edwardians was a veritable feast.
Witty vignettes... great research... and that marvellous under-stated British humour...
I highly recommend it.

Wish I had had access to this content when I was doing A-Levels, many years ago.
Really made me fall in love with Shakespeare all over again. And marathon every movie adaptation of his plays I own!!!!

What a wild, fun ride!

A fantastic collection from JCP! Warning... emotional rollercoaster at times. You can't help but laugh out loud... or bite your nails to the quick... or want to bitch slap someone for doing something really bad or really stupid. Loved the character development along the way, and the strengthening of the relationship between Dixon and Yuri. Really enjoyed Yuri grow into loving Dixon, and becoming part of the Penn Family. Nick Hudson made it such a treat. He is super talented and joy to listen to. I gladly give this 5-stars!!!

All I have to say is: "Oh wow, Lance Greenfield!!!" He delivered the perfect emotion in those scenes that demanded it. I am in awe over his performance.

A multiplicity of emotions from a fairly dark read

I am a big fan of Z.A. Maxfield. I fell in love with ZAM's writing with THE PHARAOH'S CONCUBINE. And then was completely snagged with the ST NACHO'S Series.
This book is also excellent, but there was so much darkness in it, mostly likely because so many of characters in it were badly damaged.
I admit to feeling slightly uncomfortable with the BDSM scenes, but that was nicely balanced when Dare made love with Finn after being bound by Finn with rope and surrendering completely. (Was that Kinbaku? Sounded like it... Yummy!)
I digress... I felt so much for the Bill character and was glad to hear he was going to make it. My heart broke during his various scenes with Finn, even though I understood why they were written that way. They demonstrated his brokenness so completely. It would be interesting to read about his journey to his own HEA. (Hint HInt!)
Aunt Liddy was amazing! I think Shannon Gunn did a fantastic job with her. His voices for the various characters were really good. Felt chills run down my spine and tears prickle my eyes, when he sounded out the grief and tears for Finn in those incredible scenes with Aunt Liddy and with Bill.
But, the erotic scenes... I got the feeling Mr Gunn got carried away, just a smidgen. A more nuanced performance there would have gone a long way.
All in all, the 11+ hours were worth it for me. Thanks for this one, ZAM!

What a fantastic experience!

This was such a wonderful read/listen/ride!
Both MCs were believable and realistic, and it was a joy to take their journeys of self growth along with them.
JOEL LESLIE IS BRILLIANT!!!!!! He made the characters come alive. Thank you for choosing him to narrate this tale.

I highly recommend this audiobook. You won't be disappointed.

So glad I stuck with this story

This is an incredible story of love, healing, self-acceptance. In the beginning, I wasn't sure I wanted to stick with it, but I am so glad I did. The unfolding relationship between the MCs was beautiful to watch. Roe's POV was brilliantly rendered by Iggy Toma. The way he narrated most things in a matter of fact way -- especially the sex parts -- spoke powerfully. That showed the strong emotional and psychological undercurrents much better than if they had been delivered with exact emotion the moments were describing. The voice he used for Travis was perfect. Iggy Toma is more than a brilliant narrator; he brings the story alive for you in a way many others could not have. Thank you, Heidi Cullinan, for writing this. There were parts that could have got very preachy, but the balance was just right. This was an amazing experience, one I am very happy to have had.
