The assassination of the chief judge has pushed the Capitol to the edge. The Great Extermination has spread to all the land. The casteless must be annihilated. Their only hope is the fallen Protector Ashok Vadal. But Vadal is being held prisoner on the island of Fortress. In order to save those who need him most, he must escape and find his way across the demon-infested sea and return to Thera, the prophet of an illegal and forgotten god. It is she who has sent the Sons of the Black Sword to war against the warrior caste, hoping to buy time until Vadal’s return.

Epic Fantasy From A Master Storyteller
Revisado: 03-29-24
I have well over 200 audio books and rarely write reviews. I felt compelled to write a review for this particular series because in these days of repiticious LITRPG and reincarnation stories dominating the fantasy landscape its refreshing to come across a story that is more in line with traditional fantasy but unique in its approach. In my opinion Correia is a brilliant writer and the Saga Of The Forgotten Warrior is a must have for fantasy lovers, especially those who were raised on the likes of Eddings, Feist, Jordan, and Martin. Tim Gerard Reynolds is the perfect voice actor to bring these characters to life for the audio version. I can't recommend this series enough. If you're a lover of "High Fantasy" then this series is for you. I also suggest anyone not familiar with Correia's Monster Hunter series to give that a read / listen as well. More great storytelling by a master story teller.

Historia
Arthur Leywin may have survived the Relictombs, but he immediately finds himself embroiled in something far more complex and dangerous: Alacryan politics. Accused of crimes he didn’t commit, Arthur is forced to defend himself without drawing the attention of his most powerful enemies. He quickly discovers that the best place to hide may be in plain sight as he continues his quest for the power to control Fate itself. It is a race against time, however, as the greatest threat of the war so far closes in on Arthur’s loved ones in Dicathen.

Very Frustrating... Because I'm invested
Revisado: 05-09-23
Rarely do I write reviews but I felt compelled to write about this series. Let me start by saying I love epic fantasy and I get that you cannot read epic fantasy in an episodic fashion, but need to take in the story as a whole. Having said that the progression or lack there of for the MC makes this series very frustrating for me, especially for a progression driven story. I feel like the last few books have introduced new aspects to the MC's abilities but there hasn't really been any growth that shows him getting closer to being able to meet the challenges the true powers in the world present. I often compare this book to the Cradle series. Completely different stories, but the similarities are that the challenges the MCs face continue to grow. With Cradle the MC figures out how to advance even when he loses and you can see how the losses help him grow. In this story, the MC's growth feels stagnate and has felt that way for a few books now. I really am enjoying the series but it feels like the pacing when it comes to the advancement of the MC needed to be plotted differently.

The musician and hip-hop legend - hailed as “the greatest MC of all time” and compared to Thelonious Monk - reimagines the writing handbook in this memoir and guide that incorporates the soulful genius, confidence, and creativity of a master artist.

The GOAT
Revisado: 10-05-19
So glad Rakim decided to write this. Eric B & Rakim changed Hip-Hop and Rakim changed emceeing. This book was informative and enlightening and really answers questions about how Rakim goes about his business and what motivates him. Love this glimpse behind the kimono of one of the most influential individuals in music who is also one of the most guarded. Thank you Ra! The 18th Letter Forever.

Historia
Ashok Vadal was once a member of the highest caste in all of Lok. As a Protector, he devoted his life to upholding the Law, rooting out those who still practiced the old ways and delivering justice with his ancestor blade Angruvadal. None was more merciless than he in stamping out the lingering belief in gods and demons among the casteless. His brutality was legendary and celebrated. But soon Ashok learned that his life to that point had been a lie. He himself, senior member of the Protector Order, was casteless. He had been nothing more than an unwitting pawn in a political game.

Excellent Follow-up
Revisado: 02-27-19
Overall I think Larry Correia has created an amazing work of art. I took one star away from the story just based on the number of dire circumstances the hero makes it through based on the fantastic and not necessarily his own wits. I hope Mr. Correia takes note of this as the story continues. But overall, this is an excellent work of fantasy and I'm really looking forward to the next installment. Hopefully the wait for book three will not be as long as the wait for book two was. Highly recommended!

And it threatens the heart of Vordan. Excellent!
Revisado: 02-08-19
I've read and listened to quite a bit of fantasy and rarely do I write reviews, but I have to say that this series is exceptional. The world building, the nuanced characters, the plotting and pacing, and of course, a very interesting magic system. Django Wexler nailed it!

Historia
A pioneering neuroscientist shares his story of growing up in one of Miami's toughest neighborhoods and how it led him to his groundbreaking work in drug addiction. As a youth, Carl Hart didn't realize the value of school; he studied just enough to stay on the basketball team. At the same time, he was immersed in street life. Today he is a cutting-edge neuroscientist - Columbia University's first tenured African American professor in the sciences.

Fascinating
Revisado: 04-10-18
I enjoyed how Dr. Hart wove the personal aspects of his life into his professional growth. I enjoyed reading how his outlook evolved as he became more informed. I believe the common sense approach he takes to understanding the effects of drugs along with all the factors that accompany it needs to be adopted by a wider audience.
