Historia
A year has passed since Elizabeth Bates ran her last con. Life has been simpler, although not nearly as exciting, but she has thrown herself into working to get the 19th Amendment ratified by thirty-six states to become the law of the land. Since every other Southern state has already rejected the amendment, it seems unlikely Tennessee will be an exception … but it's their only hope, so the suffragists descend on Tennessee for the final battle. Elizabeth’s ability to interact with difficult men and to persuasively explain all the advantages of allowing women to vote.

No con this time
Revisado: 12-18-23
This was a novel of historical fiction about the final state vote for ratification of women’s suffrage. There was no con in it at all. No cleverness. I’ve read all of the gaslight and counterfeit woman series and this is the first time I have been disappointed.

Historia
On their first night in Paris, the Gamaches gather as a family for a bistro dinner with Armand’s godfather, the billionaire Stephen Horowitz. But an attempt on the elderly man’s life sends Armand, his wife, Reine-Marie, and his former second-in-command at the Sûreté, Jean-Guy Beauvoir, from the top of the Tour d’Eiffel, to the bowels of the Paris Archives, from luxury hotels to odd, coded works of art. It sends them deep into the secrets Armand’s godfather has kept for decades.

The best Gamache ever
Revisado: 09-09-20
I have read all of the Gamache series and enjoyed every book, but this one is by far the best. There are so many twists and turns and new characters to care about. And lots of red herrings, too.
It is not even necessary to have read the others as this book takes place in Paris so there is no need to understand the usual players of Three Pines. On the other hand, if you have not read Louise Penny’s other books, you have many hours of reading pleasure ahead.
