Would you consider the audio edition of The Object of My Affection is My Reflection to be better than the print version?
Yes, because I can listen while I'm driving.
What about Lucinda Gainey’s performance did you like?
Perfect read.
Any additional comments?
Gentle and understanding and with sensible strategies in part 4 for those entangled with a narcissist. This book looks at the whole picture and is not emotionally charged as are some on this topic.

Historia
It is 1943 - the height of the Second World War. With the men taken by the army, Berlin has become a city of women. And while her husband fights on the Eastern Front, Sigrid Schröder is, for all intents and purposes, the model soldier's wife: She goes to work every day, does as much with her rations as she can, and dutifully cares for her meddling mother-in-law, all the while ignoring the horrific immoralities of the regime. But behind this façade is an entirely different Sigrid, a woman who dreams of her former Jewish lover.

Not your average war story and one of the best listens in a very long time. The author captures the good, bad and ugly of Berlin during the latter half of WW11. It celebrates humanity in all its contradictions. The characters are real and well rounded, the history faithfully re-created and the story compelling. I’ve got to say that the narrator, Suzanne Bertish did an amazing job. I would recommend this book to anyone who anyone who enjoys an exceptional story, told well.

Historia
Few can rival attorney Andy Carpenter's affection for golden retrievers, especially his own beloved Tara. After he astonishes a New Jersey courtroom by successfully appealing another golden's death sentence, Andy discovers that this gentle dog is a key witness to a murder that took place five years before. Andy pushes the boundaries of the law even further as he struggles to free an innocent man by convincing an incredulous jury to take canine testimony seriously. It will take all the tricks Andy's fertile mind can conceive to get to the bottom of a remarkable chain of impersonations and murder, and to save a dog's life - and his own - in the process.

An enjoyable read.

Lighthearted listen with humour, intrigue, murder and enough writer's skill to keep you listening. Great for a break between more serious subjects.

Any additional comments?
The story is fast paced, fun to listen to and much better than the publisher's summary would lead you to believe. I am already downloading my second David Rosenfelt novel.

Rich characterisation, rich language, light hearted but serious and altogether, a good story. Bryce Courtenay and Humphrey Bower have produced a wonderful piece of entertainment. It's been a long time since I enjoyed a book so much. Could not put this one down.

Haunting
Revisado: 01-05-09
I would have liked to have given this book a 4.5. It is historical fiction at its best. Using a shameful episode in the history of France during WW11, Tatiana de Rosnay, has successfully blended the past with the present, interlacing the stories of Sarah (the past) and that of Julia (the present). De Rosnay manages to do this without becoming implausible, sentimental or melodramatic.
The historical element is told from a child's point of view, which, in the retelling, results in a gripping, haunting and poignant novel.
I would recommend this novel to all fans of the genre.

When the National Security Agency’s invincible code-breaking machine encounters a mysterious code it cannot break, the agency calls its head cryptographer, Susan Fletcher, a brilliant, beautiful mathematician. What she uncovers sends shock waves through the corridors of power. The NSA is being held hostage…not by guns or bombs but by a code so complex that if released would cripple U.S. intelligence. Caught in an accelerating tempest of secrecy and lies, Fletcher battles to save the agency she believes in.

This is a "just like every other TV thriller". The most annoying thing was the heroine, who was supposed to be some kind of genius but consistently exhibited an IQ well below average.
