Is Tor Finally Falling For Saboraak? Or is he just falling? Again? These northern cities seem awfully difficult to survive in, but at least they make like interesting... But who can Tor trust? It seems that no one is who they pretend to be..... and then the story explodes!!!!

The twists continue... After rescuing Zara (and her twin sister Zin), not to mention picking up a fourth (fifth?) member of the party in Bataar, Tor and company try to outrun the Magika, heading across the snow to the cities of the northern country. Injury? Treachery? Will our little band find themselves finished before they have barely begun?

Tor, a teenager living on the streets after watching his city nearly burn to the ground during the war, is recruited by Hubric to be part of a spy ring to find information for the new Dominar. Not exactly what Tor had expected of the promises made months earlier of becoming a dragon rider,, but the Magika are on the move... Tor has his doubts of becoming a dragon rider after experiencing the thrill and terror of riding with Hubric, but ends up with a dragon of his own: Saboraak, the first female dragon bonded to a human. Tor and Hubric are twice kept from reaching supplies, and find that the young girl Zara, Hubric's other spy in the making, has been captured, and it is up to Tor and Saboraak to rescue her while Hubric reports back to the Dominar. This book continues the story started in the Dragon School series, but with new characters in the lead, and as many (or more) twists and turns as the Dragon School series.

Captivity, loss, information gathering, sworn oaths, information sharing.... and travel to what looks to be the final battle... will Amel be able to do anything to save the dominion? Things look pretty dark, and then... a sliver of hope?

Finally figuring things out.....

So, even more twists and turns... prophesies revealed.... Into the depths, back to the heights.... Sacrifice.... who will live, who will die? I keep using the word, but I am just so amazed at the plotting and the story arc of this series..... and I cannot wait to see how it ends!!!!!

Burn, Baby, Burn!!!

If you are a rock and roll fan, like I am, you know the songs: Cities Burning, Cities On Flame, Burning Down The House, Burning Sky, Beds Are Burning... well, you get the idea... If you took all of that fire and rolled it all together, it would not even compare to the fire damage in this book. Dying, resurrection, by the end of the book you need a scorecard to tell which players are still alive and kicking (or maybe not really kicking)…. After a few books of not a lot happening, the violence takes over... If this is what you have been waiting for, then you finally got your wish!!!!!

Truth

At this point, it is interesting to realize that this series COULD be meant as Christian allegory. The main tenet of this series can be summed up in one verse from the Bible: And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make ye free. (John 8:28 KJV) Nowhere is this more true than in this volume. It has been talked about over and over (the chosen one needs truth for her power. the Light Bringers value true above all things). Not much 'action' here, but sometimes action is not as necessary as moral thinking. Another amazing step in this story arc, beginning to move toward wrapping everything up in Book 20.

The Quiet... AND The Storm......

So, I have finished the 12th of the 20 books in this series.... The staging of the plot has been masterful, but how was she going to make it last 20 books? Ms. Wilson has fooled me again... now I am asking myself how it she going to be able to finish it in ONLY 20 books? She has once again proven her amazing skills of twisting and turning, even when you know (or think you know) what is going to happen. I have to give extremely high praise to a new light bringer on the fantasy scene. I believe that Ms. Wilson will be turning out masterpieces for a LONG time to come....
