Historia
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Great story, a very talented narrator!
Revisado: 07-24-21
I listen to a lot of audiobooks…this was one of the best! Engaging story, a very human protagonist, I really don’t remember much of high school science but based on the character’s processing of what he knew and taught combined with his methods of problem solving I believe were stellar to the story.

Historia
In 2014, Theranos founder and CEO Elizabeth Holmes was widely seen as the next Steve Jobs: a brilliant Stanford dropout whose startup “unicorn” promised to revolutionize the medical industry with its breakthrough device, which performed the whole range of laboratory tests from a single drop of blood. Backed by investors such as Larry Ellison and Tim Draper, Theranos sold shares in a fundraising round that valued the company at more than $9 billion, putting Holmes’s worth at an estimated $4.5 billion.

Riveting true story, highly recommend the audiobook. Covers the start-up frenzy in Silicon Valley, the duping of intelligent and powerful people, the power of charisma and intimidation, legal maneuvering, and journalism at its best.

Historia
Meet Ove. He's a curmudgeon - the kind of man who points at people he dislikes as if they were burglars caught outside his bedroom window. He has staunch principles, strict routines, and a short fuse. People call him "the bitter neighbor from hell". But behind the cranky exterior there is a story and a sadness.

Life, Love and our perception of people
Revisado: 09-30-16
Would you consider the audio edition of A Man Called Ove to be better than the print version?
No! It was wonderfully and professionally narrated by George Newbern. He really made the story and the characters come alive.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Probably the cat. Animals have a way of revealing our persona in a way humans cannot.
Which character – as performed by George Newbern – was your favorite?
Ove...hands down...I saw myself in him. Again, really well narrated.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
This story covered all spectrums...a very entertaining yarn.
Any additional comments?
I listen to a lot of books and in a variety of genres...this has been one of the best in fictionI have listened to in a long time.

Fast-paced, informative and rather chilling in regards to what is going on in Russia and with our world economy.

Historia
August Shroeder, a burned-out teacher, has been sober since his 19-year-old son died. Every year he’s spent the summer on the road, but making it to Yellowstone this year means everything. The plan had been to travel there with his son, but now August is making the trip with Philip’s ashes instead. An unexpected twist of fate lands August with two extra passengers for his journey, two half-orphans with nowhere else to go. What none of them could have known was how transformative both the trip - and the bonds that develop between them- would prove....

Good yarn for a recovering alcholoic
Revisado: 02-23-16
What did you love best about Take Me With You?
Character development was engaging, but sometimes not terribly realistic.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Take Me With You?
Unless a person has hiked in the national parks mentioned in the story, or at least have been there....will they understand just how personally impacting the scenery can be.
Which character – as performed by Jeff Cummings – was your favorite?
I liked the dog. Interesting, how he does not seem to age in the later chapters, however.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
My John Muir Summer
Any additional comments?
I kept thinking that this book was underwritten by Alcoholics Anonymous. Was a little too preachy in the story line. The characters went seven years without further contact...really?This listener was left wondering what the adult character did every summer during those years; it was never really addressed.

Historia
Gloria Steinem - writer, activist, organizer, and one of the most inspiring leaders in the world - now tells a story she has never told before, a candid account of how her early years led her to live an on-the-road kind of life, traveling, listening to people, learning, and creating change. She reveals the story of her own growth in tandem with the growth of an ongoing movement for equality. This is the story at the heart of My Life on the Road.

Feminism revisited
Revisado: 01-29-16
Would you try another book from Gloria Steinem and/or Debra Winger and Gloria Steinem ?
Debra Winger has a voice that is easy to listen to, however, there was little life to her narration...sounded as she was simply reading the story.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
Most interesting was Steinem's early years, her account of growing up, and the impact that her parent's lifestyle had on her being so unfettered for so long. Steinem views the world only through the lens of her feminist, liberal political lens.
Would you be willing to try another one of Debra Winger and Gloria Steinem ’s performances?
I'll pass on another book narrated by Winger...
Could you see My Life on the Road being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
No! It would only appeal to an audience that agrees with her politically.
Any additional comments?
Gloria Steinem made no mention of her recent marriage. Thought it was odd that as a long-time feminist she at least wouldn't address her reasons for getting married.

Historia
A sophisticated, pause-resisting double love story spanning 40 years-an unforgettable Brief Encounter for our times. It is 1960. When Jennifer Stirling wakes up in the hospital, she can remember nothing-not the tragic car accident that put her there, not her husband, not even who she is. She feels like a stranger in her own life until she stumbles upon an impassioned letter, signed simply "B", asking her to leave her husband. Years later, in 2003, a journalist named Ellie discovers the same enigmatic letter in a forgotten file in her newspaper's archives.

Typical chick-lit love story, circa 1960 & 2014
Revisado: 10-26-15
Would you listen to The Last Letter from Your Lover again? Why?
No! I rarely ever reread a book or listen to one again. Too many I would like to read for the first time, why waste time on one I have already read!
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Last Letter from Your Lover?
When one realizes the older male protagonist did something other than the writer led you to believe he did.
Which scene was your favorite?
The dialogue between the lovers on their (what I believe was) second date. When the reader realizes their chemistry was mutual.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Speak up! Be honest with yourself and your spouse...life's too short. OR...Hell has no fury like a woman scorned.
Any additional comments?
This story really wouldn't happen today...even tho there is a modern sub-story...which initially was a bit confusing, because you are listening to it, not reading it. The characters are fairly well developed, but their actions are really frustrating. Most people today would never put up with the behaviors dished out in the storyline.

Reminder of known information
Revisado: 09-17-15
If you could sum up Younger Next Year for Women in three words, what would they be?
Nothing new here
What was one of the most memorable moments of Younger Next Year for Women?
Annoying, lengthy story of Chris skiing with the experts in Stowe...BORING!
How did the narrator detract from the book?
Voice of Chris sounded too old, could hear him smacking lips, clearing throat, taking breaths...tone was condescending...narration was distracting from the message.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
No
Any additional comments?
Read their first book, thoroughly enjoyed it, and it changed my life. Y.N.Y. for
Women had basically the same information which I predicted, but wanted a review. Information presented would have been better if Chris were a female. Dietz narration was irritating...Harries was fine. Would have liked the book better if I had read it rather than listened to it. And I disagree with Chris regarding there being no negative side effects to working out. One can injure themselves while working out...as all of the women in my class have done, at one time or another...no matter what kind of shape they were in at the time or how careful...it just happens, and it can be expensive and discouraging.

Historia
Looking to some of the world's greatest thinkers and inspiring leaders, Brooks explores how, through internal struggle and a sense of their own limitations, they have built a strong inner character. Labor activist Frances Perkins understood the need to suppress parts of herself so that she could be an instrument in a larger cause. Dwight Eisenhower organized his life not around impulsive self-expression but considered self-restraint.

Historia
Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he's sure he'll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he's alive - and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive. Chances are, though, he won't have time to starve to death. The damaged machinery, unforgiving environment, or plainold "human error" are much more likely to kill him first.
