Historia
Irena is a Russian Jewish immigrant, a PhD in comparative literature, a former Stanford admissions officer, and a private college counselor in Palo Alto, California—a city where everyone has to be good at something and where success often means the name of a prestigious college on the back of a late-model luxury car. But as Irena works with some of the most ambitious, tightly wound students in the world, she struggles to keep her own family from unraveling, and that sharp-edged divide lies at the heart of her memoir.

Must Read for Parents and Young Adults
Revisado: 09-26-24
Fantastic read that puts an eye popping frame around the portrait of parenting in a society led by fear and "acachievement".

Historia
Mothers of boys have the special calling to shape future men of God. Popular speaker Rhonda Stoppe, mom to two sons, knows this opportunity is a challenge, a joy, and probably the most important work of a woman's life. Drawing from years of ministering to youth and to women and from her own parenting experience, Rhonda provides refreshingly relevant guidance, biblical and contemporary examples, and humorous insights to help each listener discover how to guide a son without hovering and smothering.

The authors voice is too sharp and is hard to listen to.

Fantastic book, poor narration.
Revisado: 04-08-22
This is such a wonderful written book I'm definitely recommending to my fellow mamas! Purchasing the audible version I was expecting the same level of professional narration that I have experienced with dozens of previous titles but that is not what I experienced with this one. Mispronounced words, long pauses, throat clearing, and loud swallowing didn't take away from the books message but should have perhaps reduced the price given the lower level of production and lack of professional editing for errors. One that sticks out:"salutation speech" instead of "salutatorian speech".
