Historia
When Scott Payne was growing up, he never envisioned a future that included what happened on Halloween night 2019. Out in the woods of Georgia, he tried desperately to save a goat from being sacrificed in a ritual by a group of neo-Nazis without revealing that he was actually an undercover agent. Now, this retired FBI agent reveals how and why he infiltrated the rapidly growing American Nazi group, The Base. Known as the “Hillbilly Donnie Brasco,” Payne was guided through some of the most terrifying assignments in the FBI’s history by his devotion to his family and his Christian faith.

Great story and insight about the underbelly of America
Revisado: 04-08-25
Book narration was EXCELLENT. Absolutely enjoyed and learned a lot about the criminal white underbelly of America. I’d say of you listened to the author’s podcasts, feel free to skip ahead as there is some regurgitation. However, there is also new stuff. Wish the author had gone little more in depth about the basic FBI training at Quantico along with other agents/cases influenced by criminals he arrested and prosecuted. Overall it is a quick and to the point book.

Historia
We know of psychopaths from chilling headlines and stories in the news and movies - from Ted Bundy and John Wayne Gacy to Hannibal Lecter and Dexter Morgan. As Dr. Kent Kiehl shows, psychopaths can be identified by a checklist of symptoms that includes pathological lying; lack of empathy, guilt, and remorse; grandiose sense of self-worth; manipulation; and failure to accept one’s actions. But why do psychopaths behave the way they do? Is it the result of their environment - how they were raised - or is there a genetic component to their lack of conscience?

Detailed and throughly explained
Revisado: 04-03-25
Many books out there explaining heinous crimes and the criminals behind these deeds, but not many from a scientific perspective. Author does an excellent job connecting the MRI scans of brains and the behavior of the psychopaths he researched. The book does go into little bit too much detail and drones on, feel free to skip those minutes. Overall would definitely recommend this work for anyone interested in learning about psychopathy.

Borrow from library instead, terrible narrator.
Revisado: 10-02-24
Overall, a decent overview of Counter Intelligence but a very narrow view. Author apparently forgot there are other intelligence specialities which impact CI, zero mention of them.
The narrator is awful, and i mean like an SNL skit. Comical, pompous, arrogant, offering ridiculous innuendos. Pretty tough listening to this dude pontificating for hours on end.
Information wise, it has some interesting nuggets regarding particular cases but nothing earth shattering.

This is a book about common sense—what it is, how to make it, and how to put it into practice across all contexts of leadership and life. It's also a book of stories from my leadership journey across continents, cultures, and contexts (e.g., combat, business, and government). In this book, you’ll learn what I learned and what many other common-sense leaders across the ages have learned before us.

Excellent research on an invaluable topic
Revisado: 09-08-24
Highly* recommend this book. It was well researched and written to be highly relatable. I have always respected LTC(R) Blaber, as I have read his previous work. He uses today’s challenges in a very effective manner to highlight HOW to think in a common sense way. As many of have experienced, common sense is dying in our collective society. Younger generations are ignorant of most basic life skills, using common sense being one of them. This work would be a very useful tool for our young generations to learn, grow and perhaps survive in dark times that may lay ahead.

“You like it darker? Fine, so do I,” writes Stephen King in the afterword to this magnificent new collection of twelve stories that delve into the darker part of life—both metaphorical and literal. King has, for half a century, been a master of the form, and these stories, about fate, mortality, luck, and the folds in reality where anything can happen, are as rich and riveting as his novels, both weighty in theme and a huge pleasure to digest.

Great stories…some with unnecessary political bias
Revisado: 07-07-24
As always, King delivers. Patton’s narration is perfect!
Unfortunately, some of the stories are tainted with political bias and jabs usually the hallmark of today’s divisive large news channels. King is usually too smart and talented to fall for these cheap pitfalls but here he did though in limited fashion. In the afterword he does explain where these views came from, and it is not him but rather his spouse overshadowing his work.
Irregardless, rest of the stories are dark, mysterious, and absolutely draws in the listener to meet King’s magical characters. Some may even haunt your thoughts and dreams for days to come. Well worth the time and purchase, highly recommend it!

This is the true crime best seller that was the basis for Martin Scorsese’s film masterpiece GoodFellas, which brought to life the violence, the excess, the families, the wives and girlfriends, the drugs, the payoffs, the paybacks, the jail time, and the Feds...with Henry Hill’s crackling narration drawn straight out of Wiseguy and overseeing all the unforgettable action.

Enjoyed this book very much, very details and brutally honest. Only thing i didn’t care for was leaving the fact Karen Hills full blown affair with Paulie. She apparently slept with him and perhaps bunch of other Wiseguys to keep her purse padded. Otherwise good and well narrated.

Take a tour through the horror paperback novels of two iconic decades...if you dare. Hear shocking plot summaries that invoke devil worship, satanic children, and haunted real estate! Complete with story summaries and artist and author profiles, this unforgettable volume dishes on familiar authors like V. C. Andrews and R. L. Stine, plus many more.

Awful diatribe, full of unnecessary sarcasm
Revisado: 11-08-23
Hands down one of the worst non-fiction I have experienced. Authors are apparently into LARPing and role playing which they hold rather sacred but everything else is beneath their taste in literature or otherwise.
Unfortunately, the material covered has tons of potential for a decent well researched work. However, the author’s moronic sarcasm and childish cynicism takes away any hope. Think of this book as a cross between Jerry Springer and the Kardashians. Pointless and unnecessary assault on one’s nerves for pure entertainment purposes.
Definitely would not recommend, even as free.

Good info bit full of contradictions
Revisado: 10-31-23
Really enjoyed the Jujitsu and fighting techniques. Also, a decent background of Jujitsu development in Brazil.
However, it was interested in his breathing techniques which was barely covered.
I’d the biggest let down was the mudslinging and badmouthing he does about his family. Lots of axe grinding. Contradicts himself repeatedly by pointing out his values but then selectively follows them as suits his needs. Overall the relevant and good info is about 1/3 of the book, rest is about his grandiose ego.
