Historia
Surrounded and outgunned, a group of private military contractors known as “Strange Company” find themselves on a remote planet at the edge of known space, and on the losing end of a bad contract. Orbital D-beam strikes, dropships bristling with auto-guns, missiles, and troops - even Monarch space marines in state-of-the-art advanced battle rattle - will try to prevent the company from reaching the exfil LZ and getting off-world.

It's a bit repetitive
Revisado: 10-09-24
Far too much foreshadowing and flashbacks. Seemed disorganized and a bit campy. It had great potential but I feel the author got a little "lost in trees" on this one.

Historia
Few know the warship’s actual name. But everyone has heard the rumors. The PUV James Keeling can do something no other vessel in existence can do—slip into another dimension, travel undetected, then re-emerge onto our plane and surprise enemy targets. But the thing that makes the Crypt unique also makes it a nightmare for those onboard; interdimensional travel causes hallucinations, violent behavior, and psychotic breakdowns. Keeling could be the Union’s greatest weapon, a game-changing asset that can defeat the bloodthirsty zealots of the Purist Nation, the Union’s mortal enemy.

Historia
Five long years have passed since the annihilation of three Roman legions in the wilds of Germania. Varus, the general who led the ill-fated army, is long dead, and the bones of his 15,000 legionaries moulder in the forests. But not all the Romans were slain in the ambush. Centurion Tullus, a seasoned veteran, survived, and now he lives for revenge upon the tribal chieftain Arminius, who masterminded the ambush. Tullus will stop at nothing to kill his bitterest enemy or to recover his legion's lost Eagle.

Historia
In our universe, Ponce de Leon is remembered for his fruitless search for the mythical fountain of youth. But, in an alternate universe, his quest found something very different - and very dangerous. Eighty-five years later, Spain sent a fleet of ships against England. The English were confident that they could repel the threat - but England's fleet was annihilated by weapons shooting beams of fiery light, weapons which seemed to employ the blackest of sorcery, even if they were wielded by odd-looking beings in monk's garb.

Historia
When Vicksburg fell to Union forces under General Grant in July 1863, the balance turned against the Confederacy in the trans-Appalachian theater. The Federal success along the river opened the way for advances into central and eastern Tennessee, which culminated in the bloody battle of Chickamauga and then a struggle for Chattanooga. Chickamauga is usually counted as a Confederate victory, albeit a costly one.

"If they only......"
Revisado: 02-17-18
The author spends too much time defending Grant's reputation or giving alternatives battlefield scenarios. Disappointing to see an author claim exhaustive research only to find the bulk of the work is quoted text from other authors. Gushes on about Grant while ignoring his many blunders before Vicksburg and his poor planning leading up to Missionary Ridge.

Historia
Jake Taylor was a New Hampshire farm boy who wanted nothing more than to marry his girlfriend, work on the farm, and maybe one day write a great novel. But mankind was fighting the alien Tegeri and their bio-mechanical cyborg soldiers, and UN Central needed men…men to go to war on hostile worlds far from home. Jake wasn't given a choice, not a real one. He found himself torn from home and family, conscripted for life and shipped to the planet Erastus to take his place in the battle lines, never to return.

Fun book but the sound editing poor
Revisado: 05-09-17
Fun book but poorly mixed. Chapter transition too short. The narrator's voice is at times too soft when one is listening in the car. Better off for a reader to download or pick up from the library. Jeffrey Kafer would have been a better reader for this series.

Historia
During the second half of 1943, after the failure at Kursk, Germany’s Army Group South fell back from Russia under repeated hammer blows from the Red Army. Under Erich von Manstein, however, the Germans were able to avoid serious defeats, while at the same time fending off Hitler’s insane orders to hold on to useless territory. Then, in January 1944, a disaster happened.

Dry as a whale bone in the Sahara.
Revisado: 05-09-14
Would you try another book from Niklas Zetterling and Anders Frankson and/or Dick Hill?
Maybe....
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Dick Hill?
John FitzGibbon would have been much better. The narrator seemed to be constantly running out of breath and he stumbled a great deal with the names of places, people, and even vehicles. It was hard to remain interested when the narrator sounds like he has just finished climbing a dozen flights of stairs before the reading.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
Yes indeed.
