I recommend either a different version of the audiobook, or just get the book itself. This one epically failed to try and mimic global radio broadcasts for 30 damn minutes and you couldn’t hear a single flippin’ thing but static. Therefore the story starts “after” the world wide news crap (about 36min into the book).

I love this book! The narration is theatrical and professional (the first audiobook I heard in such a format, FYI). Aside from its incredible presentation, the story itself is a timeless classic! Horror/ mystery/ thriller.... it’s short enough to keep interest and doesn’t drag at any point. It keeps you on edge - captivated.

I highly recommend this!

Listen to one of the most notable books of HP Lovecraft’s Cthulhu Mythos. I will be reading the others, for sure!

I really enjoyed the multitude of characters and voicing this narrator could portray. It really brought the story to life for me, more so than the first time I read it (nearly a decade ago).

My first impression of the author was that of blatant arrogance, but I gave him a chance anyway. I had selected this audiobook (and a handful of others) to help suppress tendencies of laziness, procrastination, and even the negative mindset we’re all born with that keeps us in our comfort zones and prevents personal growth.

Every now and then I’d get some decent humor and motivational advice, but there was an undertone that had been driving me a little crazy from the get go, and that’s the “lack of scientific evidence” that anything he actually studied or even proposed held up on its own. Everything in the book is anecdotal!

By Chapter 21, he was raging on about how you need to focus on creating a customer fan base before focusing on satisfaction. He even went so low as to say “create a problem” and “provide a solution” to this issue YOU created.

His first example? The Flu vaccine. Insinuating that the medical field creates problems and then provides a solution/ cure to a problem they created. As medical professional, I take extreme offense to this. Then he said he was trolled on social media (by someone who had a different opinion or point of view), and fed that individual to his ravenous fan base/ echo chambers. It was at this point I realized he was saying “look, it’s my way or the highway.” Just because he makes money off of motivational lies and anecdotes, doesn’t make it right for him to spread messages like: anti-vaxxing is okay, or public shaming of those who disagree is okay, or that you should take his word and buy into his shallow advice. Anecdotes are primitive, and only do so much. And it really ruins your integrity when you throw baseless numbers and figures in your book without backing it up. Will not be completing this book.
