Historia
In an ever changing and exclusive "me" world it is increasingly difficult to find people that would be our permanent group of friends. It is hard to even imagine a squad that won’t change members every so often. But what if you aren't the type to move out of your comfort zone? What if it is hard for you to make new friends? Are you going to just do things on your own or are you going to suffer in silence around people who don't really get you? The answer is NEITHER. You have to find a way to be able to gain the kind of friendships that would be lasting and meaningful.

Read Jennie Allen's book instead of this one.
Revisado: 04-23-24
I would suggest the author and anyone considering this book read Jennie Allen's book instead. This one spends more time focused on weeding out bad people than how to find the right people. It's short enough to begin with. It also repeated assumes you are already in a tribe largely controlled by a more charismatic leader than you. It has a few points I would consider bad advise.

The world would be a better place if everyone took this to heart. Thank you for giving me a better direction to look for my tribe, and all you openness in this book. It would not have been the same without that

Historia
Spensa’s life as a Defiant Defense Force pilot has been far from ordinary. She proved herself one of the best starfighters in the human enclave of Detritus, and she saved her people from extermination at the hands of the Krell - the enigmatic alien species that has been holding them captive for decades. What’s more, she traveled light-years from home as an undercover spy to infiltrate the Superiority, where she learned of the galaxy beyond her small planet home. Now, the Superiority - the governing galactic alliance bent on dominating all human life - has started a galaxy-wide war.

The banter from mBot is hilariously on point. Pacing was perfect. Plot very well planned and executed. I'm excited to see what comes next.

Historia
In her mid-20s, at the height of tech industry idealism, Anna Wiener - stuck, broke, and looking for meaning in her work, like any good millennial - left a job in book publishing for the promise of the new digital economy. She moved from New York to San Francisco, where she landed at a big-data startup in the heart of the Silicon Valley bubble: A world of surreal extravagance, dubious success, and fresh-faced entrepreneurs hell-bent on domination, glory, and, of course, progress.

Insightful, depressing, thought provoking
Revisado: 01-08-21
at times slow and tedious. Pacing could use some work. Overall worth reading. It gives good insight into the tech industry, culture, and cities of San Fransisco and LA. It brings to light several topics that need more attention, such as the ethical morals of data tracking, lack of control policies in tech, sexism, the economic havok the venture capitalism can cause on a city, skyrockiting property values/ cost of living, increasing homelessness. it's a rare look into a different world.

"My name's Bonnie Torres. Recent college grad, magic user, and severely unemployed. Until I got a call out of nowhere to interview for a job I hadn't applied for. It smelled fishy, but the brutal truth was I needed the work - so off I went. Two days later I'm a PUPI (Private, Unaffiliated, Paranormal Investigator) - me and Nick, Sharon, Nifty, and Pietr. Five 20-somethings, thrown into an entirely new career in forensic magic. The first job we get is a doozy. Worse, there are high-profile people who want us to close up shop and go away."

observation detective gone wrong
Revisado: 12-30-20
For a character who's main skill is observation, there was very little description about anything or anyone in this book beyond the most basic and shallow fashion and check box for athletic or nerd. People believed Sherlock Holmes had a keen eye because the author could describe things and rationalize believable cause and effect. Not so here. Also, the repeated boy-craze theme was very cringe.

Historia
The 13 chapters of The Art of War, each devoted to one aspect of warfare, were compiled by the high-ranking Chinese military general, strategist, and philosopher Sun-Tzu. In spite of its battlefield specificity, The Art of War has found new life in the modern age, with leaders in fields as wide and far-reaching as world politics, human psychology, and corporate strategy finding valuable insight in its timeworn words.

super abridged
Revisado: 11-17-20
After everything I had heard about this book I expected much more. I had heard excerpts from other sources that were not in this. with it only being 1 hour long I expected it to be abridged, but the areas chosen to be included verses those left out seem all wrong. I have not read the full version, so I do not know, but this was not as good as I expected.

Historia
Think of The War of Art as tough love...for yourself. Since 2002, The War of Art has inspired people around the world to defeat "resistance"; to recognize and knock down dream-blocking barriers and to silence the naysayers within us. Resistance kicks everyone's butt, and the desire to defeat it is equally as universal. The War of Art identifies the enemy that every one of us must face, outlines a battle plan to conquer this internal foe, then pinpoints just how to achieve the greatest success.

Historia
For over a century, humans, dwarves, gnomes, and elves have lived together in relative peace. But times have changed, the uneasy peace is over, and now the races are fighting once again. The only good elf, it seems, is a dead elf. Geralt of Rivia, the cunning assassin known as The Witcher, has been waiting for the birth of a prophesied child. This child has the power to change the world - for good, or for evil.

tedious back story dialogs between good parts
Revisado: 02-15-20
I am a fan of the Witcher series, but this book felt boring and tedious to get through at times. sure there was great action and interesting parts too, but the parts with back story were long with hard to follow dialog between characters that had not previously been built up in any way to relate to or even remember afterwards. Aside from a general impression that some bad important people are pulling strings from high up and they want war again elf's. that sentence could have shaved about 2 hours off the book. Better still would be to give these players a reason to remember them and care what they say. Anyway, it was OK. I kind of want to continue the series, but not really if there's going to be much more back story, politics, And dialog. Maybe I'll read something else and finish the Netflix series and games first then come back to the books with a better idea of who is who.

Historia
Set in present-day Los Angeles, Junk explores an epic conspiracy, one at work for thousands of years that involves total takeover of the planet Earth by aliens. In the wild, souped-up vision of Les Bohem - the acclaimed, Emmy-winning writer of the Steven Spielberg miniseries, Taken - the world is at the end stage of long-range plot that involves a gigantic genetic-engineering project. The aliens who have invaded us have no planet. No spaceship is coming. Instead, a small advance force comes, breeds, and dies - thus becoming an anomaly in our DNA that can’t be explained.
