Historia
Tanzania, 1964. When Katie Barstow, A-list actress, and her new husband, David Hill, decide to bring their Hollywood friends to the Serengeti for their honeymoon, they envision giraffes gently eating leaves from the tall acacia trees, great swarms of wildebeests crossing the Mara River, and herds of zebras storming the sandy plains. Unlike Any Safari of Mine!
Revisado: 07-29-23
A story of Hollywood, a safari based in deception and world politics. I agree with another reviewer that the structure of the book is unusual and took me some time to get used to it. However, it does give you the back story on the characters, African politics and the crime. There are the attacks of animal on humans and human on human that are woven into the story. I do wonder what Mr. Bohjalian's thoughts were about in writing this book, was it just a story he had in mind or did he want to tell us about Hollywood in the 1960s, or the struggle for African independence or US vs Russia struggle for dominance. There are interesting questions brought up in this book for book group discussions.

Historia
A reluctant ex-spy with demons of her own, Elinor finds herself facing down one of the most dangerous organized crime gangs in London, ultimately exposing corruption from Scotland Yard to the highest levels of government. The private, quiet “Miss White" as Elinor is known, lives in a village in rural Kent, England, and to her fellow villagers seems something of an enigma. Well she might, as Elinor occupies a "grace and favor" property, a rare privilege offered to faithful servants of the Crown for services to the nation.

Another Win for Ms. Winspear
Revisado: 06-09-23
I could have imagined Maisie Dobbs in Elinor's place, the moral struggles were similar. I felt the story was tight, always moving. I have read all of Ms. Winspear's novels and would be interested in continuing with this character if she chose to make her into a series. I always enjoy Ms. Cassidy's narration, she & Ms. Winspear just go together.

Historia
Olivia McAfee knows what it feels like to start over. Her picture-perfect life—living in Boston, married to a brilliant cardiothoracic surgeon, raising their beautiful son, Asher—was upended when her husband revealed a darker side. She never imagined that she would end up back in her sleepy New Hampshire hometown, living in the house she grew up in and taking over her father’s beekeeping business. Lily Campanello is familiar with do-overs, too. When she and her mom relocate to Adams, New Hampshire, for her final year of high school, they both hope it will be a fresh start.

Authentic & Raw
Revisado: 05-19-23
Ms. Picoult has always written about difficult subjects as much to tell a story as to educate her readers. We are introduced to the real& honest struggles of Liam as she transforms to Lilly. I so appreciated the way in which Ms. Boylan created Lilly. In real life secrets create more secrets and abusers beget abusers. If you are someone who has difficulty understanding some of today’s language and don’t acknowledge the emotional struggle of the trans individual this is a book that can enlighten you.

This is a Book for Listening
Revisado: 01-25-23
This is not a fast read nor is it action packed. The characters are well developed and have lessons with which to leave us. William DeMerritt is one of the finest narrators, capturing the cadence and accents of the South and the different male & female voices. This is a book you will want to listen to.

Remarkable Story
Revisado: 10-11-22
I listened to this book and while the 23 hours is at first daunting, it allows you to become immersed in the story. The author chose 3 remarkable women as her main characters and only Marthe was from Dray’s creation. The author’s note was much appreciated. I always enjoy learning how they did their research for the book and the fact that she was able to speak to living relatives. I feel the narrators were superb with spot on accents. I also, enjoyed Dray’s book about Patsy Jefferson.

Historia
At the height of WWII, five idealistic young Americans receive a mysterious letter from the OSS, asking them if they are willing to fight for their country. The men and women from very different backgrounds - a Texan athlete with German roots, an upper-crust son of a French mother and a wealthy businessman, a dirt-poor Midwestern fly fisherman, an orphaned fashion designer, and a ravishingly beautiful female fencer - all answer the call of duty, but each for a secret reason of his or her own. They bond immediately, in a group code-named Dragonfly.

Worth a Credit
Revisado: 08-02-22
A fine story that may surprise you at times and may bring tears to your eyes. I read this as historical fiction, but that doesn’t mean I expect it all to be historically accurate. After all it is still fiction. If you wish to get lost in a book/story this is the one for you.

Historia
The woman’s body was found in the early morning, on a bench in a New York City playground. She was clean, her hair neatly arranged, her makeup carefully applied. But other things were very wrong—like the tattoo and piercings, clearly new. The clothes, decades out of date. The fatal wound hidden beneath a ribbon around her neck. And the note: Bad Mommy, written in crayon as if by a child.

J D Robb is my guilty pleasure. And Susan Ericksen is the best narrator for the series. I enjoy the development of the characters over time and always get a tickle out of Peabody. I hope she is able to continue writing this series for a long time.

Loved this book! Reminded me of the old radio mysteries. Archer has the makings of a good recurring character. And I always enjoy Edoardo Ballerini as a narrator; he was nicely balanced with Brittany Pressley.

Ugh!!
Revisado: 08-19-20
D. K. Good can write a good murder mystery, but it is ruined by this narrator. She needs to take some drama lessons, at times she sounds like a breathless teenager. I don’t like to write negative reviews but enough is enough. I know narrators can be costly and I don’t know if it is because Audible/Amazon is producing so many, but I’ll go back to reading these books rather than listen to one of such poor quality.
