Historia
In 1919, Delano, Georgia, appoints its first chief of police. Honest and hardworking, the new chief is puzzled when young men start to disappear. But his investigation is ended by the fatal blast from a shotgun. Delano's second chief-of-police is no hero, yet he is also disturbed by what he sees in the missing-persons bulletins. In 1969, when Delano's third chief takes over, the unsolved disappearances still haunt the police files.

Always a favorite of mine

Stuart Woods's best book, in my opinion. I read it when it first came and have re-read many times. One of my go to books, and I thoroughly enjoyed this audiobook version. The narrator has a voice that is easy to listen to and he did not make a theatrical event, but kept a steady narrative. Will definitely listen to this again and again.

Historia
The Trees is the story of an American family in the wilderness - a family that "followed the woods as some families follow the sea." The time is the end of the 18th century, the wilderness is the land west of the Alleghenies and north of the Ohio River. But principally, The Trees is the story of a girl named Sayward, eldest daughter of Worth and Jary Luckett, raised in the forest far from the rest of humankind, yet growing to realize that the way of the hunter must cede to the way of the tiller of soil.

Good, wholesome story
Revisado: 09-19-23
I've loved this story since I first read it as a teenager and have reread many times over. I was thrilled to see it as an audiobook.
The reader does a fair job, until he came to the pronunciation of a major character name. How is it that someone cannot pronounce "Portius"? The repeated mispronunciation certainly is jarring and lowers the quality of listening to the story.

Historia
The fair Lady Julitta has a problem. She is not wealthy. She prizes her virginity. And her liege, whom she despises, is intent on rape. Red Adam is the lord of Brentborough castle - young, impetuous, scandalous, a 12th-century hell raiser. On one of his night of drunken revelry, he abducts Julitta. Though she fends him off, keeping her virginity, he has sullied her honor. Then to the astonishment of all, he marries her. Red Adam's Lady is a boisterous, bawdy tale of wild adventure, set against the constant dangers of medieval England.

one of my favorite books
Revisado: 08-17-23
As much as I love this story, the narrator did everything in her power to completely ruin it. The mispronunciation of easy names, including Red Adam and Julitta at least once each, was painful. In addition, the dialect affected was painful and in more than one case, unintelligible. She also gave some of the noble women accents of the lower class. I doubt the narrator could have done a worse job if she tried.

The narrator tried hard to ruin this story
Revisado: 06-05-23
I've read these books many times over and love them. This narrator on the other hand was horrible. His fluid pronunciation of M'Nementh was annoying, although I think he actually got it right a couple of times. He also mispronounced R'Gul, Kylara, Igen and numerous others was also distracting. I initially was critical because he obviously did not research the people, dragon and place names, then he pronounced archetype as "arch-type". Any respect I may have had for him went out the door. He, and the producers, directors, etc need to make sure their narrator is prepared and knows how to pronounce the words. If there are errors, then they need to be corrected. Also, his voice for Fandarel was completely off base. He voiced a big, booming voice as one I would expect from a teenager. Again, failed to do his homework and the powers that be failed to ensure a quality product was made I cannot recommend these audiobooks, because of the shoddy performance and production.
