The voice actors are great. The story is cute. It felt like it dragged a little bit in the middle but otherwise what a sweet tail.

Toby never meant to be a highway robber, but needs must. He didn’t plan to impersonate a top London valet either, but when the chance comes to present himself as the earl of Arvon’s new gentleman's gentleman, he grabs it. Unfortunately, the earl is the man he seduced and robbed on the road to get here. Oops.

Cute, Sweet, Marvelously Predictable.

I enjoyed the sweet story. As a gay man who enjoys queer romance it’s fun. My biggest complaint about these novels is they’re written by straight women. The sex scenes, in this book, there probably were 1, possibly 2, are kind of boring. I appreciated that she kept it R rated but I would’ve appreciated a little more fun :-)

Cute and sweet and if you’re a tween or teen give it a shot.
Revisado: 11-25-24
Like other critics have said, and I am an adult who likes to listen to these books, the story is a little more about the apocalypse with their “romance“ kind of sprinkled in between.
It’s got good apocalyptic roots and I think edited it would be a lot more fun.
As a gay man I am uncomfortable critiquing queer literature and what I would say is take the five star reviews with caution, and take the negative reviews with caution.
I gave it three stars because I thought it was average. The performance was good enough (I’ve listened to awful performances), the characters fairly well flushed out, the villains evil but sporadic, but by the end I kind of felt like “is that all there is?”

Le Carr that always is fun. Just not his reading.
Revisado: 07-20-24
Unfortunately I have to stop the novel early because I find his reading to be tedious, without in nation, and absolutely unengaging. This is the poor novelists trick: to read it themselves. A professional performer is just as talented as the writer. Just in a different way.listen to the sample and if this doesn't bother you then please buy this book! :-)

A well thought out drama that happens to include two boys falling in love.
Revisado: 04-20-24
I really enjoyed the whole book. I found the characters to be well threshed out and not ( and trust me I love these kind of books) the usual candy love story.
The characters sound like teenagers with teenage problems. of course add in the problems of homophobia.
The story whines you through both the development, difficulties, and fun that these boys have.

Fun and Playful/Serious
Revisado: 03-16-24
Let's be real: I generally listen to these novels, as an adult, for mind candy escape. I didn't get it. It wasn't mind candy (ok maybe a bit of boy-pines-for-boy).
I very much enjoyed that there were multiple side stories that kept the book interesting and amusing. Fun and funny characters, queer and non,
Hella props for diversity and going after assumptions we all make.
The voice actor was exceptional for novels in the genre and honestly for fancier more expensive ones. We all know this -- the voice actor can make or break the book. This gentleman pulled it all off, like a magic trick, like a great voice actor they drift off to the background.
I really appreciated the main character who was self reflective but also like me when I was 17, thick as a cement wall, but with some satisfying self growth.
Imagine one of these M2M novels that you've loved for its PG romance but better written, with some surprising and not so surprising twists, and a happy ending that doesn't quite tile the knots (I'll buy the sequel).
Here's the clincher: my Enjoy.

Finn is smart, adorkable, and his shyness pushes all my buttons. The problem? My interest in him quickly shifts from friendship to something less than platonic. Feelings I’ve been pushing down for years bubble up to the surface, and I find myself unable to see him as just a friend or keep my hands to myself. When a night out leads to some extracurricular fun, Finn and I decide to have a no-strings-attached fling. He’s the perfect person to explore my bisexuality with, and our chemistry is off the charts.

If you're into boy meets boy, something in the way, boys get together and have very frequent sex, then this is your book!
Revisado: 02-01-24
The performance was excellent. These two voice actors are quite good, and I enjoyed hearing their voices as well as the way they tackled the script. Personally, I'm into boy meets boy R rated or at best PG-13 so that's my only complaint. The sex seems were, well, sexy, and I enjoyed listening to them, but if I want that I'll go online and find porn :-) What can I say I'm a hopeless, romantic? would say the book is enjoyable and if you like pretty hot descriptions of sex, this is definitely your book.

Queer teen angst
Revisado: 06-13-21
I’ve been enjoying this genre of books for quite some time. It’s a nice escape as an adult who didn’t have the easiest coming out process. Most of the stories revolve around coming-of-age, coming out, some kind of internal emotional struggle, and often a suitor who may seem impossible to match up with. I appreciate that the author is writing about a talented young man who is rejected by his conservative family and dealing with internal emotional angst. However I haven’t been able to make it farther than a few hours in because the angst is too much. The story is nicely written in that it takes place outside of this young man’s home in about his traveling to another country. I won’t say I don’t give it A shot but I will say that I would’ve preferred something lighter :-)

Made Through The First 5 Minutes
Revisado: 06-06-21
... in the first 5 minutes of this book I learned of the highly esteemed places the author teaches, her credentials, and then into a very difficult (I'm joking) story of how she was not allowed to board her international flight to go on a safari. If that's how you start off your self-help book ("lessons") then ... you're kidding me? As a lay Dharma Teacher I wanted to vomit. Caveat Emptor.

Cute. Sweet. Different Angle.
Revisado: 05-23-21
The writing is very sweet, the story marvelously diverse without the assumption that all characters are white and Christian :-) and the “different angle“ about and overachieving young queer man.
Of course because it’s a romantic novel there isn’t realism in his overachievement (One usually does not become that way without one’s parents contributing).
I would say my only critique is that the overachievement stress got a little annoying but I would not dissuade you from enjoying the book otherwise.
Like many novels in this genre it absolutely delivers with a very kind and sweet romantic story of two diverse young queer men.
