I finished The Message by Ta-Nehisi Coates prior to this, and remember thinking as I read part three "this book is prophetic." I don't believe it was coincidence that Fr Richard's words were what I heard next--Tears was a deep dive of The Message for me. I stopped watching the CBS morning show after Tony Dokoupil attacked Ta-Nehisi. This is before I had read the book and now I understand how Tony totally took things out of context--he wasn't attempting a constructive conversation, his intent was to attack Ta-Nehisi and totally ignore (disrespect) the truth of oppression. Boy, did Fr Richard bring that home to me. So much so that I will definitely listen to it again.

I am so glad I finally understand why there was so much ridicule of Ta-Nehisi for writing this book. I remember watching the CBS interview (I don't watch that program anymore) and being so confused about the way this man was being ridiculed. Truth tellers are feared because they are mirrors of reality. This book is a prophetic voice of the traumatic reality of oppression. I have long misunderstood how the history of suffering by the Jewish people is obviously forgotten when extending grace to Palestinians--oppression is evil no matter where it exists. This book is a deep dive into oppression and how it effects us all. We owe Mr. Coates a deep sense of gratitude for his courage to speak so honestly.

Albertson has really helped me to understand what is currently going on with so called Christen nationalists. As a believer in Christ I must confess to the judgment I have had towards white evangelists. Albertson has brought me clarity to who they are and who they are not.

For the last few months I have been in a fog spiritually. I reached out for Christ and prayed "please, make it plain." My prayers are answered--through Nouwen HE makes it plain.

Absolutely Heart Moving!

I am so glad I did not purchase the print book because hearing Harry's story was much more real. Emotionally I was moved at several sections but none so much as when Harry delivered his daughter-it brought me to tears. There is no doubt in my mind that Harry had to share his story with us. It has put everything I've heard and read about the cray-cray associated with him into context. God's blessings on him, Megan and their beautiful babies.

A year of silent wonder

This has truly been one of God's tender mercies. It has been a morning companion that I did not realize had come to an end. Cannot stop now, so we continue together again each morning in 2023. To God be the glory!
