Historia
Meet Randi Burnett—she’s brilliant, she’s beautiful, and she works for the bride. Missing groom? Intoxicated in-laws? Crying ring-bearer? You name it, she wrangles it. Too bad her personal life isn’t thriving like her side gig as a bridesmaid for hire. Recently dumped, Randi throws herself into her biggest challenge yet when she’s hired as a maid of honor and pretend best friend for an ice queen bride. There’s just one problem—the best man is infuriating, overprotective, and anti-marriage.

Struggling to get through this one
Revisado: 03-24-25
This book has a really busy plot, with a lot of whining happening from the female protagonist and a lot of jerky selfish behavior from the male protagonist. I also found that their overly elaborate backstory and character building worked against the plot in many ways. It was like I was trying to juggle whether or not they had a rough childhood or if they were struggling with bisexuality or if they were struggling with losing their best friend in their opinion to a wedding… It was just a lot. Then you throw in the medical issues and bad friend behavior for the female, where she’s jealous, and insisting on placing her view on wedding onto her friends and then secretly judging them and being upset about it for 2/3 of the book. To be honest, I’m just not enjoying it and the only reason that I’m going to finish the book is because I’m a Completionist and I want to read it to the end, but it’s not proving to be a very enjoyable read/listen

They say monsters are made. I was born one. With an angelic face and a cursed talent, I eat magic and ask for seconds. When I pass through the land, flowers wither, earth scorches, and colors bleed out—all at the command of my father, the God of Ruin. I escaped his prison, only to stumble upon a dangerous school ruled by five heirs. Girls fight to fall into their laps, even though they’re all hot mess assholes.

Story is good poor narration

Had it not been for the spicy parts and interesting story, I would’ve deleted it for the terrible narration. Stick with it or better yet, get it on kindle and not as an audio book

Interesting, but tropey with bad narration
Revisado: 12-17-24
I really wanted to like this and I got through it, but the plot seemed rushed and the Audible narration was TERRIBLE. The narrator didn’t sound Scottish at all and her version of the male voices reduced my enjoyment of the audio book. I also feel like the rushed romantic plot happened way too quickly and didn’t land as genuine or remotely believable. I’ll finish the series if possible to see if it improved (completionist!).

Historia
I am the type of woman who always plays it safe. In my professional life as a public relations "fixer", and in my personal life, especially when it comes to the opposite sex. Really, who needs the wild highs and the I-want-to-die-because-he-left-me lows of a relationship? At least, that's what I thought...until I met HIM. Damian No-Last-Name-Given is sexy as sin, and I'd developed some kind of weird, instant attraction to him the moment he settled his chiseled body next to mine on a flight from London to Los Angeles.

Historia
Deborah Harkness first introduced the world to Diana Bishop, an Oxford scholar and witch, and vampire geneticist Matthew de Clermont in A Discovery of Witches. Drawn to each other despite long-standing taboos, these two otherworldly beings found themselves at the center of a battle for a lost, enchanted manuscript known as Ashmole 782. Since then, they have fallen in love, traveled to Elizabethan England, dissolved the Covenant between the three species, and awoken the dark powers within Diana’s family line.

Strange and disconnected, not as good as others
Revisado: 09-11-24
This book was long awaited and I’m sorry to say that it was a bit of a disappointment. While it was nice to learn about Diana‘s magical side of the family, it gave a very disjointed and often plot hole filled sense to the entire story. I wish that they had spent more time Filling in those important plot holes and joining this book to the others in the series. I also got the sense that it ended on a bit of a cliffhanger and I don’t know if she’s writing another one or when it might come out. I was also largely unhappy with how they portrayed Diana and Matthew as a married couple this far into their marriage and it took away from who they are as characters and as a couple.
