The deep love of Christ
Revisado: 09-28-24
The descriptions of the loneliness of being a Christian homosexual and the deep struggle through God’s path of sanctification. Also the essential role of the body of Christ in including hurting and ‘different’ people in the family of Christ. I have severe disabilities and this book will help those with disabilities work through sadness, loneliness, pain, neglect and bitterness toward to seeing this journey as God’s deliberate path for the broken body/mind to bring others who are suffering into the heart of Jesus in joy and thanksgiving. I have come to see all of my disabilities as Gifts for the Journey. Thank you for this deeply personal and extraordinarily articulate book on a being an obedient Christian at all costs.

Historia
Lazarus occupies a surprising position in the Gospel accounts. Widely known as the man Jesus raised from the dead, his story is actually much broader and richer than that. Living as he did at Bethany, near Jerusalem, Lazarus was uniquely placed to witness the swirl of events around Jesus. When Jesus Wept, the first novel in The Jerusalem Chronicles series by best-selling authors Bodie and Brock Thoene, unfolds the turbulent times in Judea during Jesus' ministry, centering on the friendship between Jesus and Lazarus.

Passionate, earthy, deeply affecting, The Red Tent combines rich storytelling with a valuable contribution to modern fiction: a vibrant new perspective of female life in the age that shaped present day civilization and values.
If you like The Red Tent, try The Harlot by the Side of the Road, a recounting of some of the most startling and explicit writings from The Old Testament.

Disappointed
Revisado: 10-27-22
Scripture was twisted, misrepresented needlessly. Won’t read any more of her work. The idea of the red tent was good but dissolved in poor research and misrepresentation.

Historia
After her release from a concentration camp, Corrie ten Boom set out to become what she called a “tramp for the Lord,” traveling around the world at the direction of God and proclaiming his message everywhere. Throughout her life-long experiences, she learned a few lessons in God’s great classroom, which she here shares with listeners. Corrie introduces us to her former prison guard, who asks her for forgiveness; a war-crippled lawyer with a soul as twisted and deformed as his limbs; and more.

Historia
Cambridge, England: Outside the city, the badly decomposed body of a teenage girl has washed up in the flooded fens. Detective Inspector Chloe Frohmann and her partner, Morris Keene, must work quickly to identify the victim before the press takes off with the salacious story. Across the hallowed paths and storied squares of Cambridge University, the detectives follow scant clues toward the identity of the dead girl. Eventually, their search leads them to Deeping House, an imposing country manor where, over the course of one Christmas holiday, three families, two nannies, and one young writer were snowed in together.

The female reader’s baby talk and lisp were so irritating that I could not follow the story. I have deleted it from my library. I couldn’t even get through the first chapter.

Lack of fluent reading
Revisado: 01-31-21
The story and purpose was excellent. Wonderful writing.
The tone of the performance was good; however, the reading was annoying and choppy as if the reader did not have good breath control or was unprepared or was reading from a teleprompter. This did not used to be his style in his early days but has become so in hix recent days. If I do not REALLY want to hear the book, I do not select one with this performer.

Jerky narration
Revisado: 04-11-20
The story is very good. However, the narrator sounds like he is reading from a teleprompter with unfortunate breaks. He stops in mid sentence and waits the picks up fro the next 3 to 4 words. Good accent but needs to be more fluent in his reading.

Historia
At the age of 22, Jennifer Worth left her comfortable home to move into a convent and become a midwife in postwar London’s East End slums. The colorful characters she met while delivering babies all over London - from the plucky, warm-hearted nuns with whom she lived to the woman with 24 children who couldn't speak English to the prostitutes and dockers of the city’s seedier side - illuminate a fascinating time in history.
