I couldn't get past Ch. 1 due to indecipherable sentences. This simply should not be available. A computer clearly narrates. Huge disappointment. Purchase if you want to here a robot translate Navajo to English.

Historia
Modern medical technology is allowing us to live longer and fuller lives than ever before. But with changes in the way we understand medicine come changes in the way we understand death. Once a familiar and gentle process, death has come to be something from which we shy away, preferring to fight it desperately than to accept its inevitability. Palliative care has a long tradition in Britain, where Dr. Kathryn Mannix has practiced it for 30 years. In this book, she shares beautifully crafted stories from a lifetime of caring for the dying.

clarity in perspective
Revisado: 07-11-22
the nature of the material was evocative and real. it paints the truest senses of all humans and our mortal condition. I have longed to have more exposure to death as I believe it gently and lovingly has called to me even as a naive child. I've sought its peace and in this book I recieved confirmation that a life worth living is better captured in a life lived with death whispering its definitive solace to our souls.

exceptional
Revisado: 10-13-17
My 9 year old son has battled Stage 4 cancer for 5 years. My son has endured a life he sees as fantastic and beautiful. As a parent I see the endless pains and life lived in a hospital. I too am Catholic as Lewis. I have pleaded ad nauseam with my Father. This insight into his (Lewis) pain was therapeutic and left me with a sense of ease as my son begins to encroach on his own mortal coil. I won't be spared the anguish but Lewis has delivered a kinship in heartbreak that has recentered my soul.

Historia
For decades we've been told that positive thinking is the key to a happy, rich life. "F*ck positivity," Mark Manson says. "Let's be honest, shit is f*cked, and we have to live with it." In his wildly popular Internet blog, Manson doesn't sugarcoat or equivocate. He tells it like it is - a dose of raw, refreshing, honest truth that is sorely lacking today. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck is his antidote to the coddling, let's-all-feel-good mind-set that has infected modern society and spoiled a generation, rewarding them with gold medals just for showing up.

The one Truth: Death
Revisado: 06-18-17
Book starts irreverent and inviting. Chapters 4-6 get into the weeds a bit. The last 2 chapters really brings a great introspect and philosophy.
