great story, but too many l long drawn out love scenes.
Revisado: 03-21-25
another great time travel/love story, but it seems to be a bit excessive with the details of the sex scenes. we get it, they are going at it hard core...... and again a few hours later. could cut at least 3 hours out of this audio book, thank goodness for the fast forward/ skip ahead feature.

Historia
The stories of King Arthur and Merlin, Lancelot and Guinevere, Galahad, Gawain, Tristan and the rest of the Knights of the Roundtable, and the search for the Holy Grail have been beloved for centuries and are the inspiration of many modern fantasy novels, films, and shows. These legends began when an obscure Celtic hero named Arthur stepped on to the stage of history sometime in the sixth century, generating a host of oral tales that would be inscribed some 900 years later by Thomas Malory in his classic Morte D’Arthur (The Death of Arthur).

thank you Octavia,

LISTEN TO THE SAMPLE quit complaining! GREAT BOOK!
Revisado: 10-03-18
Please quit giving this book a bad review because you were too lazy to listen to the sample and too UN-imaginative to listen to a book with a different narrator. what are you going to do if/when this becomes a series? complain about the actor also?
The story was a tad slow in the beginning, but picked up about 90 minutes in, i was becoming concerned however the long drawn out description of things is just Anne Rice's style and becomes unnoticeable after a while.
I am a long time Anne Rice fan and once you get past not having the slight french/ new Orleans accent of the narrator the book is great and falls right in line with the rest of her work!
Awesome as always!! thanks Anne for giving us more Vampire Chronicles!!

very long and drawn out story
Revisado: 11-05-14
Anne's descriptive writing always paints the picture a little too much, but this book is so drawn out that i find my mind often wondering waiting for the story to move along.... real bummer for me because i love the vampire chronicles and Anne's witches as well.

Picking up from A Discovery of Witches' cliff-hanger ending, Shadow of Night takes reluctant witch Diana Bishop and vampire geneticist Matthew Clairmont on a trip through time to Elizabethan London, where they are plunged into a world of spies, magic, and a coterie of Matthew's old friends, the School of Night. As the search for Ashmole 782—the lost and enchanted manuscript whose mystery first pulled Diana and Matthew into one another's orbit—deepens and Diana seeks out a witch to tutor her in magic, the net of Matthew's past tightens around them.

awesome second book of the series
Revisado: 09-22-14
definitely recommend this series. This book continues on with the same main characters while adding additional characters and exploring a new adventure. The main story line just keeps you enthralled waiting to find out the outcome. I had to wait for the third book to be written and the wait was entirely too long, but for those of you who are just starting the series.... no worries, its out.

Sad really, because i wanted to learn something, anything at all, but it just wasn't happening.
