Boring and redundant.

Thought there would be interesting celebrity tidbits. Sounded like a teenagers diary. Only some self discovery. Was a money maker and unremarkable.

Book out of character with Holly mentions in other book
Revisado: 03-11-24
I am an audiobook fan and listened to the Hodges books in sequence before listening to this one. Having the female performer orate the book was a mistake. The cadence of the reader in the past Hodges books added richness to the Holly character beyond the dialogue. You felt her anxiety. In this book, read by a female, Holly sounded chirpy. Holly’s dialogue was too relaxed and contemporary, sounding more like an insecure Buffy Slayer instead of a struggling mature woman fighting anxiety and battling through her insecurities. The development of the characters felt hollow. Perhaps Holly was to have evolved since her last experiences with Bill, but instead of leading to that development, the book veered out of character, and made the book feel like an imposter reformatting the Hodges characterizations, and came up short. no surprises. This book was predictable. A disappointment.

Very disappointing
Revisado: 11-04-22
The series started out fun and Dexter was such guilty pleasure to read about. A smart character, understated, and fun to listen about. Books got worse each time and by book 4 & 5, he was blathering and no longer sharp. I respect a keen bad guy and he began not to be. I stuck it out hoping for a rally at the end. Feel like I wasted my money. Fyi- the series was far more developed and even with the again, disappointing ending, I did not feel like I wasted my time and appreciated the ride. First time ever when I have watched and read a series in parallel and it was the development in the book that was thin vs. the story. I think I will avoid this author next time.
