Historia
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Historia
A retired group of legendary mercenaries get the band back together for one last impossible mission in this award-winning debut epic fantasy. Clay Cooper and his band were once the best of the best, the most feared and renowned crew of mercenaries this side of the Heartwyld. Their glory days long past, the mercs have grown apart and grown old, fat, drunk, or a combination of the three. Then an ex-bandmate turns up at Clay's door with a plea for help - the kind of mission that only the very brave or the very stupid would sign up for. It's time to get the band back together.

Historia
Seven years ago the Atargatis set off on a voyage to the Mariana Trench to film a mockumentary bringing to life ancient sea creatures of legend. It was lost at sea with all hands. Some have called it a hoax; others have called it a tragedy. Now a new crew has been assembled. But this time they're not out to entertain. Some seek to validate their life's work. Some seek the greatest hunt of all. Some seek the truth. But for the ambitious young scientist Victoria Stewart, this is a voyage to uncover the fate of the sister she lost.

Don't look for Ariel here!
Revisado: 11-14-18
But do read this book if you want a superior Suspense 'monster' story...
Victoria lost her sister years ago when the boat she was in was attacked by monsters. Those monsters look shockingly like the mermaids of old, but no one can be sure. The found footage from the event is uneven and poor in quality. Still, it looks like nasty mermaids.
Years pass. Many people are haunted by the loss of that ship. Additionally, the reality TV company that owned it suffered as they fought to explain what happened to their staff and ship.
Ultimately, they decide to fund a new expedition to look for these mermaids and discover more about the accident from years earlier.
The bulk of this novel takes place on the ship seeking these mermaids. The crew is comprised of Scientists of all types, media specialists to document the events of the trip, Diving experts and tough guys hired to protect everyone else. They know what they are looking for. They have 'mermaid experts', including Victoria who has become a marine expert in her own right (but harbors a deep need to find out what happened to her sister), and they know where to look.
That foreknowledge isn't enough...

Historia
Kwan Wilson was a high school basketball star living in San Diego when a tragic accident changed his life in ways no one could predict. He only looked at his phone for a few seconds, but that was all the time it took to crash his car into a telephone pole, killing his mother and paralyzing him from the waist down. After the accident, his father, Admiral Douglas Wilson, sent him off to live with his maternal grandmother in South Florida.

Teen Angst Meets Aquaman
Revisado: 11-14-18
Ok, so Aquaman isn't in this story, but the main character (spoiler) does become something similar. Our hero is paralyzed from events happening before the story begins, and is having trouble dealing with life. He tries to reenter his life as a paraplegic, but it doesn't go well..until that is he finds out about new stem cell research using Sharks going on at an nearby institute.
As you may have guessed, our hero gets his hands on some of the serum being developed and takes it, with little thought to how it will eventually affect him. All he wants is to be able to walk again, to be able to play Basketball again, to not be the butt of bullies jokes. At first, it works like a charm, but .... and there is always a but.
Our hero makes mistakes in judgement throughout the book, which is why I have angst in the title. It was his fault he was paralyzed and it is his fault on what happens to his body afterward. But he is a good person, and ultimately works through some very serious trials, especially throughout the last third of this book.
I very much enjoyed this novel and hope there is a follow up.

Historia
In 1524, in what is now Germany, hundreds of thousands of peasants revolt against the harsh treatment by their aristocratic overlords. Agnes, the daughter of one of these overlords, is not a typical 16th-century girl. She refuses to wear dresses and spends more time with her pet falcon than she does trying to attract potential suitors. In fact there is only one man who interests her: Mathis, a childhood friend whom she can never marry because of his lowly birth.

Charming
Revisado: 09-12-16
Set in the Palatinate of 1520s, this Historical Fuction novel propels our Heroine, Agnes, theough many adventures as she seeks to understand her dreams and the mysterious signet ring she has found. Intertwined with her story is that of the local blacksmiths son Mathis (pron Matese), her childhood friend and love deapite her high birth and his low. Theoughout the story we see through their eyes the devastation of the real war of the time and it felt strangly timely as it was the.peasants risng up to wrest control from the nobels There us a degree of the fantastic here... Some remarkable events and luck but nothing of fantasy. I really enjoyed this novel and the unabridged audible presentation

Historia
Quentin Coldwater is brilliant but miserable. A senior in high school, he's still secretly preoccupied with a series of fantasy novels he read as a child, set in a magical land called Fillory. Imagine his surprise when he finds himself unexpectedly admitted to a very secret, very exclusive college of magic in upstate New York, where he receives a thorough and rigorous education in the craft of modern sorcery.

Good Follow up to 1632
Revisado: 05-17-16
this is a strong sequel to 1632. while it loses a bit of the magic the first novel brings, in part because we know understand what happened and in part because certain previously key characters barely are involved, the novel still advances the story and lives of our favorite transposed West Virginians. this string of novels is basically a What If modern man interrupted the 30 years war.

Historia
New York Times best-selling author Eric Flint has received glowing critical praise for his Ring of Fire alternate history series. In this first installment, a West Virginia town is transported from the year 2000 to 1631 Germany at the height of the Thirty Years’ War. Thrust into conflict, the town residents must also contend with moral issues such as who should be considered a citizen.
