I have enjoyed this series since first reading/listening to The Accidental Alchemist. It has just the right blend of mystery, YA and Adult, real-world and alchemy. Gigi Pandian provides the perfect blend of humor, romance, and family that makes the story real. The story is well written, and while it is set up in such a way that you do not have to read all the books in order-- it does add to the impact of events.

Delightful, as always!

To be fair, I love the series, and I could listen to Will M. Watt read a grocery list - The fact that he is narrating another exciting Alastair Stone adventure makes it that much better. I love watching as the series progresses and the stakes get higher, and I can't wait to see where they go next!

Rise of the Rocket Girls follows the history of the women at JPL (later rolled into NASA) from the early 40s to day - women strong in math doing all the calculations necessary for space flight and rocket probes, their work lives on in the projects they oversaw. History I didn't know, and things I remembered - an amazing story of space exploration and the people who made it possible.

An amazing story that's worth listing to-- more than once.

If you've read/listened to the intro short story for the series, you know what you're in for - FBI agents working a case using their hearts as well as their heads. Christian mystery with a message of hope.

This book talks not only about policing but the human side of policing and the issues/lessons learned. At times humorous and others thought-provoking. A very human story.

logging in at just over an hour - this short story is a great introduction to an FBI agent with heart, where the characters work to use all their training and skill to resolve a hostage situation. True police-work is not about guns -- it's about heart

A powerful story set in a not too distant future where organized religion is outlawed, Overnight people are arrested for 'past crimes' and taken away. The injustice is well played and hard hitting.

My only complaint is the fact that this short story could have gone on to be a full novel, I would love to read more, but it was really nice to finish the story before my commute.

Path of Stone is a step back in time where we get to see our hero as he was at 15, officially learning magic for the first time. We get to delve deeper into what made him the man (and mage) he is. All I can say is the story is bloody brilliant! If you are coming into the Chronicles for the first time - You'll learn a lot more about our hero, but keep in mind that most of the stories take place while he's in his 30's.

This story adds depth and gives us a better understanding of Alastair's world.

I don't get to read much, and without audiobooks - I'd get a lot less reading done. I've been listening to the Alastair Stone Chronicles for quite some time and I love Will M Watt's narration. Most of the story is a look back to Alastair's Apprenitcehood as such, rather than read the story with an 'American Narration' we get to hear Will's actual accent as he narrates the story - this is the icing on the cake!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

The Elusive Elixir is a delightful continuation of the series. The story builds on the world introduced in the Accidental Alchemist. While the story could stand on its own, it is so much better with the previous stories backing it up.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I love Zoe and her tendency to work the problem, but it is the worldly yet innocent Dorian Robert-Houdin who steals the show. I mean, what's not to love about a Gargoyle Chef?

Have you listened to any of Julia Motyka’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Julia Motyka's performance brings the story to life in ways I think no one else could.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

There were several moments in the story that moved me to tears, and all of them came down to one thing: what are you willing to do for someone you love.

Any additional comments?

This story could easily serve as a conclusion to the series, but it leaves things open for more adventures, which I hope will come.

As the bard said - always leave them wanting more. This story is a delight and I'm glad I decided to check and see if there was a new story. Well worth the wait, and the time!
