Dark, Quirky, and Humorous

If you read the headline, you know exactly what you're in for. This is not to say that the entire story was dark. Not at all. However, I would not recommend it for young children, even if talking Magpies are tempting. I should probably mention that although I would not recommend Fool's Proof to children, my 17-year-old seemed to be enjoying it. Although since he has the same sense of humor as I do, I was not surprised. I tend to have a quirky, off-the-wall sense of humor at times, so this was right up my alley.

I've read the book previously, so the story itself is not new to me, but I wanted to get a feel for the nuances and inflections that can only be caught from listening to the audiobook. I hadn't realized at first that the author herself was narrating but after seeing her do live readings on social media before, I am not surprised she was able to do this herself. Nothing better than hearing the story from the author themselves.

I think I was having technical difficulties at one point, but overall it was quite enjoyable and I'm hoping the author decides to release the other books in the series on audio as well.

Absolutely fantastic

I cannot think of a single thing I found wrong with this one. The narration was perfect. The story and characters were even better. I love fun quirky characters. Toss in a humorous dialogue and I'm your eternal fan. Tessa Dare has made a fan out of me with this book alone. I typically listen in the car and I'm pretty sure there are loads of people currently driving around NJ who think there's a crazy Latina laughing hysterically while stopped at red lights. Sorry, Not Sorry. I couldn't help it. This book was great, and I can't wait to get my hands on more by this author

Short, Steamy and Sensual

It all started with a pair of boots. The last thing Clint expected when he stopped in the small, nondescript town to get a pair of boots, was to find his home. He definitely did not expect to find it with two strangers who felt like anything but. A pair of boots and a meal later and he was off to a night of some menage fun. In the morning he'd be off again on his quest for a place to call home. Things didn't quite work out that way though. A few hours and Clint found himself wishing things were different between himself and his new friends. Little did he know, his new friends were feeling the same way.

It was a quick, steamy listen. Although it was pretty short, I wasn't left feeling as if something was left out or missing. That's the mark of a good novella. I enjoyed the narration greatly. McAllister managed to pull off both male and female voices with different accents beautifully without a single hiccup.

They keep getting better

So this needs to be said, somehow these books keep getting better. How is that even possible? I loved the progression of Lucas and Erin's story. I have to admit though that Lucas aggravated me on more than one occasion with the way he behaved towards Erin. If it were up to be I would have made him sweat it out a bit more, maybe even made a big public spectacle of it after he publicly shunned her. But alas, Erin, although fictional, is a better person than me. lol

It seems to be a common thread in Ms. James' stories to have her female characters come into their own at some point. Her heroines don't need a man to come rescue them. The assist is appreciated, but they can rescue themselves. For that alone, she may just have become one of my favorite authors.

Once again, Ms. Jackson did a phenomenal job with the subtle intonations, inflections, different character voices and the transition from one character to the next. Great job!

Great story even better ending

I've read several of Ms. James' books but had not had the opportunity to listen to them. This particular series was new to me. I absolutely loved this book. It starts you off with that heart pumping, fight or flight moment that ensures you are engaged throughout the rest of the story. Mina starts off as the barely alive victim and we watch her grow into the Alpha female she was fated to be, even see her finally reach the culminating moment when she metaphorically takes back the power Griffin stole from her. It was great.

The narration was enjoyable and on point. Every character was different with their own unique voice. Ms. Jackson was very enjoyable to listen to.

Hosting Steaminess

First I’d like to start off with a disclaimer. I listened to Hosting Holly and honestly just did not click with it. I found it ok, but not nearly as good as Rivera’s other stories. However, knowing how much I enjoyed Ms. Rivera’s other stories, I decided to wait a couple of weeks until I was in a much better mood and give it a second chance. I am so glad I did. Granted, I did not feel the connection to the characters in Hosting Holly as I did to the others I’ve listened to, I never the less cannot take away from the fact that this was one steamy listen. I personally did not connect with the characters, but the connection between the two women is apparent. It is so undeniable And tangible that it practically leaps out at you.
Hosting Holly is Provocative. It’s Sexy. Hosting Holly is everything you want when you don’t have a whole hell of a lot of time, but you are just craving something short and steamy.

Pretty Good

I have to be honest. I enjoyed listening to it overall, but I didn’t love it. There was just something about the stories that kind of fell short for me. There was a sort of disconnect between the heroes and the heroines. I get insta-love. Hell, like most romance readers, I love reading it. But in this case there was often no discernible connection or chemistry between some of the characters. So although I did enjoy it, I’m not sure if I would listen to it again.

Great Story

I’m not real huge on historical novels. Admittedly I have a handful of favorites in the genre and don’t deviate from them very often. I saw this title recommended in a group on Facebook and thought it sounded interesting so I figured why not. I was blown away by the characters. They were thought out, well developed, and for the most part likeable. It was an enjoyable listen. I would definitely check this author out again.

Paris Rivera does it again! What starts as a not so harmless online chat between student and professor turns into so much more. Who here hasn’t at some point fantasized about that older, attractive professor? Sit in class watching their every move instead of actually paying attention to the class content. Everyone’s done it at least once. Rivera invites you to come on this short voyage and explore the forbidden.

Admittedly I do not read or listen to a lot of lesbian erotica. This is not a complaint or a dig at the genre. I just have found a lot of it good at the moment but easily forgotten in the long run. However, I can honestly say that is not the case here. Paris Rivera practically dares you to not find her work hot and spicy. To not be affected by it.

Too Funny

Tamsyn just gets better and better. I greatly enjoyed the first book. However, this one was just over the top entertaining. No exploding pies here, but there are plenty of spells going awry to keep you in stitches.
