All the way around, fantastic book. Highly recommend for fans of space opera. Only had one slow part around the 60% mark that last for an hour

Historia
We defeated the invading death machines. But at a devastating cost, with smoldering radioactive craters on Mars, shattered moon-domes around Jupiter and floating junk where Saturn's satellite cities used to orbit. We know more killing machines are coming and that the ultimate outcome seems hopeless. To win this war, we need more warships, more soldiers, and a way to take the fight to the enemy.

Historia
War heroes aren't usually called out of semi-retirement and sent to the far reaches of the galaxy for a routine investigation. So when Colonel Carl Butler answers the call from an old and powerful friend, he knows it's something big - and he's not being told the whole story. A high councilor's son has gone MIA out of Cappa Base, the space station orbiting a battle-ravaged planet. The young lieutenant had been wounded and evacuated - but there's no record of him having ever arrived at hospital command.

Between the great unique story and the excellent voice acting, this is simply one of the best of the year. Investigative tone within a military sci fi setting

Historia
Zachary Quinto - best known for his role as the Nimoy-approved Spock in the recent Star Trek reboot and the menacing, power-stealing serial killer, Sylar, in Heroes - brings his well-earned sci-fi credentials and simmering intensity to this audio-exclusive novella from master storyteller John Scalzi. One day, not long from now, it becomes almost impossible to murder anyone - 999 times out of a thousand, anyone who is intentionally killed comes back. How? We don't know.

Incredible story and the narrator does a much better job in this one. Less absurd accents but still good differentiation between the 30+ actors. Top notch stuff

Sanderson in full action mode!
Revisado: 04-22-16
Disclaimer: I come from reading his Stormlight archive series.
His world building and character development is in full swing here. The same plot crafting abilities he displayed in the Stormlight Archive and clearly evident in this book as well. I was immediately drawn into the world, able to connect with the characters, envision the environment, and developed an intense desire to find out what happens next without the ability to accurately predict how the story would play out.
I highly highly recommend this book not just to Stormlight fans but to everyone. Sanderson is simply in the zone and has engineered one hell of a formula. For my fellow Stormlight fans, this book is definitely not as detailed or deep, but there is a great balance between the details, the action, the plot, and the characters.
Don't even hesitate to buy this book.

Historia
The Galactics arrived with their Battle fleet in 2052. Rather than being exterminated under a barrage of hell-burners, Earth joined a vast Empire that spanned the Milky Way. Our only worthwhile trade goods are our infamous mercenary legions, elite troops we sell to the highest alien bidder. In the third book in the series, James McGill is deployed on another alien world. His third interstellar tour is different in every way. Rather than meeting up with a primitive society, this time he’s headed to an advanced world.

Potential wasted
Revisado: 04-19-16
I usually do a lot of research prior to starting a book, so it's rare that I give out 2 stars because I've usually narrowed it down to sure bet 4-5 stars based on my interests. This book and reviews nailed my interests, science fiction, military, character development, large plot. I loved the first book and thought this series had serious promise: tech was great, world building was good with room for expansion, character development had huge potential, and the action was great!
The second book was good but didn't deliver on character development or plot formula, in fact the characters degraded and the formula was copy paste from the first.
I was really hoping that the author would take some constructive criticism and improve with this third one but my oh my, the characters, especially the main character, got cringe worthy. By the end of the book, I was physically cringing everytime the main character interacted with a female character. Im not one to insist that every book passes the Bechdel test but wow.. The portrayal of women in this series continues to get worse and worse. Combine this with the absurd plot device of the main character going against all logic without any planning because "it feels right" and not having any consequences at all.. It just evokes all the wrong emotions for me now: frustration and disgust
