Real love starts with you. Loving someone else requires courage and vulnerability. And in order to create deep and authentic relationships that really go the distance, it's important to develop self-awareness and a willingness to take responsibility for your experiences. You've heard the saying, "You can't love anyone unless you love yourself first." But in the midst of life's distractions and society's myths of flawless romance, how exactly do you do that?

Amazing book on how to love - for couples&singles!
Revisado: 04-06-22
"Relational self-awareness". One of two processes Dr. Alexandra Solomon has created and provided for anyone lucky enough to stumble upon this book while looking to improve their love lives. This core concept - the ability to engage in mindful attentiveness to both your partner's thoughts, emotions and reactions to you and, most importantly, yours.
a lot of DBT is used here - most comparatively when Alexandra talks about how we have a narrative mind that constructs "stories" to explain reality and our past experiences - and boy, is it eye-opening. Though on its face this is a book that guides you in your intimate relationship, you'll find that it is far more about Loving YOURSELF Bravely and learning to provide yourself the love you give to your S/O. Self-compassion is key to getting the most out of Alexandra's teachings.
Grounded, informative, and most of all inspiring, Loving Bravely encourages you to take a look at how you are constructing stories around your negative emotions and teaches you to own them via the second core process in the book: the "Name-Connect-Choose" process.
A must-read for both the committed and single. I myself am single as I write this review and though you hear "your intimate partner" a lot of the time, it is so easy to project yourself forward and imagine the partner you're GOING to be with the lessons learned from "Loving Bravely".

Meditation makes you more productive because it lets you earn back time. For each minute you spend meditating, you'll earn around nine minutes back, as Chris Bailey - author of The Productivity Project and Hyperfocus - will show in this candid and counter-intuitive guide to the productivity benefits of meditation.

An Incredible Primer on How and Why to Meditate
Revisado: 02-03-22
The speaker demonstrates with humor and clarity exactly what you stand to gain from incorporating just a few minutes of meditation into your life each day will bring. "For every one minute of meditation practice, you get nine minutes back", he so often states. A return on investment like that is rare to gain in any undertaking, yet he so efficiently explains how mindfulness brings this kind of return about that you wonder why everyone isn't doing this - and he explains that, too! The simple fact as to why we don't utilize this incredible practice more is that meditation REQUIRES COMMITMENT - and in today's fast-paced, rigidly busy world, many people can't even give a passing thought as to how focusing on your breath could ever help them.
But the answer to that is clear as day. How many activities do you incorporate in your life that force you to slow your thoughts? To let the constant stories your brain mercilessly dumps on you melt away, if only for a few moments? Our society discourages this mindful state of pause so much that it brings such an enormous level of discomfort to do at first - a task so simple as focusing on your breath - yet this narration convincingly illustrates the sheer benefits of practicing just that.
a wordy review, yes, but I don't care - I won't get hung up on the minutiae of how this review will come across, I've got some meditation to get back to!
